1. 1960

Answer: Houston Oilers

With a 24-16 victory, the Oilers became the first ever AFL champion. They beat the Los Angeles Chargers in the title game. There were 8 teams in the league for the first season.
2. 1961

Answer: Houston Oilers

The Oilers repeated as champions with a 10-3 win over the Chargers. The Chargers had moved from Los Angeles to San Diego over the off season. George Blanda of the Oilers won the league's most outstanding player award.
3. 1962

Answer: Dallas Texans

The Oilers made the title game for the third straight year, but fell to the Texans. The final score was 20-17 in double overtime. Both teams had 11-3 records in the regular season.
4. 1963

Answer: San Diego Chargers

For the third time in four seasons the Chargers made the championship game, but for the first time they won the game. They won 51-10 over the Boston Patriots. The Patriots had beaten Buffalo Bills 26-8 in a divisional playoff game to break a tie when they posted identical 7-6-1 records.
5. 1964

Answer: Buffalo Bills

The Bills went 12-2 in the regular season. Then they beat the defending champion Chargers 20-7 in the championship game.
6. 1965

Answer: Buffalo Bills

The Bills repeated as champions with a 23-0 thrashing of the Chargers. The game was a rematch of the year before, and the third straight championship game for the Chargers.
7. 1966

Answer: Kansas City Chiefs

The Bills returned to the title game for a third straight season, but fell 31-7 to the Chiefs. The Chiefs then went on to lose the first ever Super Bowl to the Packers.
8. 1967

Answer: Oakland Raiders

In a 40-7 thumping, the Raiders beat the Oilers. The Raiders then went on to lose Super Bowl II to the defending champion Packers. It was the fourth and final AFL title game for the Oilers.
9. 1968

Answer: New York Jets

Joe Namath led his Jets to both the AFL and the Super Bowl Championship that season. Super Bowl III was the first time the AFL champions had won the Super Bowl. Namath and the Chiefs were heavy underdogs, but pulled off the victory anyway. They beat the Oakland Raiders in the AFL championship.
10. 1969

Answer: Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs were the second straight AFL team to win the Super Bowl. Super Bowl IV was the last time the AFL and NFL played in the game before the two leagues merged. Starting in 1970 the two leagues both played under the NFL banner.
