Martin Crowe to many Kiwis was New Zealand's greatest ever cricketer. One momentous occasion he scored 299 runs in a test match before being dismissed. It was the highest score by any New Zealand cricketer at the time.

The All Blacks have often been the number one team in the world and have proved it again by winning not only their third world cup and being the first team to do so, but retain the cup as defending titleholders. The All Blacks have beaten France in the final twice but not in 2015 (29-9 in 1987 and 8-7 in 2011).

Danyon Loader (born in 1975) learned to swim in Dunedin, one of New Zealand's most southerly cities. He won a silver medal at the Barcelona Olympics (200m butterfly) and then two golds in Atlanta in 1996 (200m and 400m freestyle). The pool where he trained after winninng the medals had a big wall display saying "There's something in the water at Moana Pool. Pure Gold."

Greg Chappell, Australia's captain, instructed his brother Trevor to bowl underarm (along the gorund) for the final ball therefore making it impossible for New Zealand to hit a six.

It was a legal play (at the time) but was very unsporting.
