Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. WEIGHT LIFTING: Which term is NOT the name of a type of lift?

Answer: wipe

The clean and jerk, and the snatch are the two basic lifts required during an official weightlifting competition in the sport (also known as "Olympic Weightlifting"). The clean and jerk is a composite of two lifts with the end result of having the barbell held above the head with arms straight and fully extended.

The clean brings the weight from the floor to chest level, then the jerk raises it overhead. The snatch brings the weight from floor to overhead in one continuous motion. The deadlift is a power training lift where weight is transferred only to waist level from the ground.

In all weightlifting, careful monitored, gradual weight increase and proper technique insure freedom from injury.
