1. What is the puck made of?

Answer: vulcanized rubber

Vulcanized rubber is when sulfur is added to raw rubber and heated to make it more elastic and strong.
2. What is the diameter of the puck?

Answer: 3 inches

The pucks are frozen before the games so they will be more bounce resistant and glide more easily across the ice.

Answer: 1 inch

There is one and only one puck that is in the Hall of Fame. It is there because it was used the whole game.
4. How much does the puck weigh?

Answer: 6 oz.

Even though it weighs 6 ounces, the puck can be shot between 90 and 100 m.p.h., and some shots have reached above 100. At the 2002-2003 All-Star Skills Competition, Al MacInnis of the St. Louis Blues won the hardest shot contest with a 98.9 m.p.h. slap shot.
5. How thick is the ice?

Answer: 3/4 inch

The thicker the ice, the softer and slower it is. The ice is usually held at around 16 degrees Fahrenheit [ -9 degrees Celsius ].

The goal line is used to determine icings and goals. In order for a goal to count, the whole puck must cross the goal line.

Answer: 27 feet

It is 60 feet from blue line to the goal.
13. What motion does the referee make to indicate a roughing penalty?

Answer: Thrusting motion with arm extending from the side

Roughing is called for engaging in fisticuffs or shoving. Pounding the closed fist of one hand into the other is for boarding, crossed arms in front of chest is for interference, and rotating closed fists is for charging.
14. What is the diameter of the faceoff circle?

Answer: 30 feet

There are five faceoff circles. One at center in the neutral zone, and two in each of the others zones on each side of the goal.
15. How many faceoff dots are there?

Answer: 9

There are 5 in the neutral zone. One at center and four others right by the blue line, two on the left and two on the right. Then there are two in each of the other zones. One to the right of the goal and one to the left.
