Andrew "Andy" Beattie made 125 appearances, scoring 5 goals for Preston North End between 1935-1947. He was appointed as the first manager of Scotland in 1954 on a part-time basis. His spell as manager did not last long. However, he was appointed again as the Scotland manager in 1959, whilst working as manager of Carlisle United.
