The Ryder Cup is part of the PGA tour in which teams from the USA and Europe compete against each other. The competition began after an unofficial exhibition match in 1926 between a team representing American professionals against a team from the British PGA.
2. The Lombardi Trophy is awarded to a team or individual that does what?

Answer: Wins the NFL Super Bowl

The Lombardi Trophy was named after the Green Bay Packer legendary coach, Vince Lombardi. It is awarded to the NFL team that wins the annual Super Bowl.
3. The Borg-Warner Trophy is presented each year in which sport?

Answer: Auto racing

The trophy was named after the auto parts supplier, BorgWarner, and is presented to the winning driver of the Indianapolis 500 each year. The first presentation of the award began in 1936. Unfortunately, the winner of the 1950 Indy 500, Johnny Parsons, had his name engraved on the trophy incorrectly as "Johnnie Parsons", and the error has never been corrected.

The award was named after one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, Denton True "Cyclone" Young. He began his career in the late 1800s, and won 511 career games as a pitcher. In the first presentation of the award, Brooklyn Dodger Don Newcombe won the award in 1956, for being the league's most outstanding pitcher in the season.

The Dial Award began as a literary award in the 1920s, named after "Dial Magazine". After many decades, the award was finally first presented in sports in 1979, and the recepient was high school football star Herschel Walker. The first female to win the award was Carol Lewis in her track and field endeavors in 1980.

The Eclipse Award is an American thoroughbred horse racing award in many categories, such as Outstanding Owner, Outstanding Breeder, Horse of the Year, Jockey of the Year, etc. The first Eclipse Award was presented in 1887 to the Horse of the Year, Hanover, a three-year old from the Dwyer Brothers stable.
