Kerrigan won the Silver Medal, while Harding finished out of contention.

Answer: Barbara Cochran

The US women have won the Super G and the Giant Slalom events, but not the regular slalom event since 1972.

Answer: 3

Looking through the Medal History lists, this is the most unusual result I found for the US.
10. Prior to the 2002 Winter Olympics, when was the last Olympics that the US Women 'did not' win a medal in Figure Skating?

Answer: 1964

There was a valid, if tragic reason affecting the result. The entire US Figure Skating team was killed in a plane crash while heading to the 1961 World Championships, and was still in rebuilding mode.
