Jose Rijo won 2 games with an 0.59 ERA as the Reds won their first series since 1976, the fifth triumph in club history.

Both clubs had finished the 1990 season in last place in their respective divisions, but turned things around completely in 1991. The Twins won their second crown in five seasons, in seven games, and just as in their previous success vs the Cardinals in 1997, all the games were won by the home team.

The World Series crown left the USA for the first time, when the Blue Jays defeated the Braves in six games. Dave Winfield hit an 11th inning double in game six to clinch the series for the Canadian team.

Molitor was awarded the series MVP for his efforts, as the Jays became the first back-to-back series winners since the Yankees in 1977-78. Joe Carter hit a three-run homer in the 9th inning of game 6 to wrap up the series for Toronto.

The World Series didn't take place, for the first time since 1904. MLB cancelled the series on September 14th as the result of an on-going players strike which had resulted in no baseball being played since early August.

The Atlanta Braves won their first series since 1957, when they were based in Milwaukee, by defeating the Cleveland Indians in six games. The Braves thus became the first franchise to win series titles whilst based in three different cities, having won the 1914 series in their original home of Boston.

The Yankees lost the first 2 games at Yankee Stadium, but stormed back with four successive wins, Wetteland being credited with the save in each of them.

Answer: Florida Marlins

The Marlins won the World Series in only their fifth season as a Major League club, defeating the Cleveland Indians in 7 games. Edgar Renteria hit an 1th-inning, bases loaded, single in game 7 to give the Miami team a dramatic victory.

Brosius was voted series MVP as he finished the series with a .471 average, 2 homers and 6 RBIs.

Answer: Chad Curtis

The Yankees had won the first two games of the series in Atlanta, and recoverd from a 1-5 deficit in game 3 at Yankee Stadium. Curtis had already hit a home run in the 5th inning, and his 10th inning homer off Mike Remlinger completed a 6-5 Yankees comeback win. They completed a 4-0 series sweep the following evening.
