7. In 1945, the Chicago Cubs saw their last World Series of the century. The heavily-favored Cubs were defeated by which team?

Answer: Detroit Tigers

The other teams were not possible as they were National League teams. With the Cubs winning 98 games in the regular season, and led by Phil Cavarretta and Hank Wyse, they were shoe-ins to win the series. 8. Since the beginning of Major League baseball with the American and National Leagues, which of the following teams took over 40 seasons to make it to their first World Series?

The 1919 series listed above saw the Black Sox scandal with the White Sox against the Cincinnati Reds.
