Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When was 'the best team in the world' established?

Answer: 1892

Liverpool F.C. came about after Everton left Anfield over issues on the rent they had to pay to Mr John Houlding. Houlding was left with a ground but no team, but not for long. He was fortunate that talented Irishman John McKenna, a member of the Everton coaching staff stayed loyal to him. McKenna set about building Liverpool Football Club.

He looked north for talent and assembled a team which became known as 'the team of all the Macs'. The team all hailed from Scotland with the exception of goalkeeper and Englishman, Bill McOwen.

Answer: Dortmund

Roy Evans signed him in 1996 after good displays in the European championships.

7. Liverpool won their second European Cup, in the year after their first, against what club?

Answer: Club Brugge

9. Who came after Paisley as manager of Liverpool?

Answer: Fagan

Fagan was appointed as Paisley's number two upon the retirement of Shankly in 1974 and was always a quiet and effective worker in the 'bootroom'. However, whilst he had the enormous experience of working under Shankly and Paisley, there was no doubt that he had to make serious managerial decisons immediately upon taking over in 1983. Two years later he resigned as manager after the Hysel Stadium disaster (May 1985) despite leading the club to a League Championship, League Cup and European Cup treble in 1984.
10. How many players scored hat-tricks against The Reds in Europe, during the four decades 1960s to 1990s?
