Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dr. Bashir is being escorted through a corridor onboard the station by two Starfleet security officers when a group of people run past him, but there isn't anybody or anything visibly chasing the people at all.

Answer: Inquisition

In this episode, Bashir finds himself being questioned thoroughly, as he is suspected as being a Dominion spy. In one scene, he is being escorted from his quarters and through a corridor by two Starfleet officers (who are armed with phasers) when a group of uniformed personnel suddenly race past while shouting 'Get back!'.

A confused and curious Bashir asks what's going on, but the female Starfleet officer doesn't give him a direct answer, saying it's nothing for him to be concerned about. Presumably, the mad dash through the corridor could've been random personnel directed by Starfleet to prepare the station for another possible takeover by the Dominion.

In "The Way of The Warrior", it's true that there were people running around the station at the beginning of the episode during their battle drill, but no single individual was being escorted through the corridor while this was taking place. "Emissary" did feature quite a lot of chaotic activity onboard the station while Sisko was getting acquainted with his new officers, but there was nobody being personally escorted by Starfleet security at any time. No such similar event takes place at all in the sixth-season episode, "Statistical Probabilities".
2. Kirayoshi is born in this episode.

Answer: The Begotten

The second offspring of Keiko and Chief O'Brien is born under the most unusual circumstances: Major Kira is the one who gives birth to him! Traditionally, births on "Star Trek" have always involved some sort of bizarre complication...and this certainly qualifies as exactly that! There's even some petty feuding between Chief O'Brien and Shakaar as to which man gets the privilege of being by her side.

At least at the end of the episode, the labor process is a smooth and painless one for the Bajoran first officer.
3. Ezri Dax finds herself being held captive onboard a Breen ship in this episode.

Answer: Penumbra

After rescuing Worf and beaming him into the aft section onboard her runabout, the newly-joined Trill and her Klingon beau--at least the beau that Jadzia remembered--don't make it back to Deep Space Nine...at least not right away; instead, they end up in a holding cell.

When they regain consciousness, Ezri makes the observation that they are onboard a Breen ship, which later on reveals to them--and their crewmates--that the mysterious aliens have now joined forces with The Dominion.
4. Gul Dukat imagines both Kira and Weyoun speaking to him, but the injured Starfleet officer who is with Dukat doesn't see nor hear either of them at all.

Answer: Waltz

The cunning Cardassian finds himself stranded on a planet with a severely-injured Sisko. Still recovering from the loss of his precious daughter, he's constantly hallucinating, hearing the voices of both Kira and Weyoun speaking to him. I can vividly remember this episode like it was yesterday, recalling in particular how funny it was to hear Kira saying, "We only wanted to destroy you" and "We hated you. We hated all of you", among other things. Sisko, of course, doesn't see nor hear Kira nor Weyoun, nor the third 'person' that Dukat hallucinates: his fellow Cardassian comrade, Damar. Dukat is not having any of these kinds of imaginary disturbances going on in his head in any of the other three episodes.
5. Odo's shape-shifting powers are taken away from him in this episode.

Answer: Broken Link

As a penalty for taking the life of a fellow Changeling, The Founders judge Odo by stripping him of his race's natural ability to take on other forms. Odo is still equipped with his powers (although he doesn't use them) in "Past Tense, Part 2" as well as in "Facets" (he actually does use his powers in this episode while behaving as Curzon Dax).

Then by the time Odo appears in "The Ascent", his powers have already been lost. Quark even makes a spiteful remark about wishing Odo could transform into a bird so that the two of them can reach the top of the mountain, knowing good and well that the station's head of security is unable to do so.
6. Kira and Odo are revealed to be talking to each other privately when a closed door is opened inside crew quarters, but those quarters do not belong to either one of them, and nor do they belong to the two men who are found in those quarters beforehand.

Answer: You Are Cordially Invited

During the pre-wedding party in Dax's quarters, Odo and Kira decide that they need to have a private discussion about The Occupation. We would later see them sitting down and talking together when, following the party, a hungover Dax hears voices behind a closed door.

When she opens it, Odo and Kira are shocked that it's already morning. The Constable and the Major then quickly scurry out of the room, leaving a hungover Dax to deal with a very disappointed but soon-to-be-wedded Worf. Then before that, when Worf first enters, the fire dancer guy who performed at the party and our beloved mysterious alien and mainstay at Quark's bar, Morn, are found inside as well, presumably spending the night there after a long, hard night of partying themselves.

It was one of the most humorous moments in an episode that was filled with comedy from start to finish!
7. Garak fatally stabs a Starfleet officer with a piece of equipment in this episode.

Answer: Empok Nor

I remember this one as being like something straight out of a slasher horror movie! Garak, the usually friendly and talkative Cardassian owner of the tailor shop on Deep Space Nine's Promenade, wasn't so friendly in this rather spooky episode. Good Garak suddenly becomes a murderous villain while Chief O'Brien, Nog and the rest of the team of engineers are working onboard the old abandoned space station.

There's a scene where one of O'Brien's officers, who had mistaken one of his tools for something else, gets stabbed in his upper body by Evil Garak, who corrects the young officer by telling him the proper name of the deadly pronged instrument.

The officer eventually dies, but not before informing Chief O'Brien and Nog about the horrific and inexplicable act of violence. Garak isn't stabbing anybody with weapons and such in any of the other three episodes.
8. Jadzia Dax takes possession of a hand-held weapon while down on a planet, but she soon realizes that the weapon she's holding, as well as the other armaments in her vicinity, were of no threat to anyone on the planet at all.

Answer: Let He Who Is Without Sin...

While vacationing down on Risa, Jadzia and Worf are constantly being accosted by the man named Fullerton and his associates, who believe that the people of Risa are being too ignorant about the very real Dominion threat and are not prepared for any kind of attack, should one occur. To prove his point, Fullerton sends some men armed with guns out into the open public space.

Despite this unexpected, unprecedented act, Dax and her companions manage to thwart the unprovoked attack, resulting in her taking possession of one of the guns for herself.

But while she's holding the gun, Dax quickly realizes that hers (and all of the other ones trained on the group) are completely empty and contain no ammunition; therefore, nobody vacationing on Risa was ever in any real danger.
9. Eddington is restrained to a chair while on the bridge of a Federation runabout in this episode.

Answer: Blaze Of Glory

Michael Eddington, the Starfleet-traitor-turned-Maquis-pioneer, is eventually apprehended and taken into Federation custody. But when Sisko recruits him in an attempt to thwart off a potential Dominion attack, Eddington is freed from captivity...at least from his holding cell.

He then finds himself onboard a runabout with Sisko (who had declined piloting the Defiant due to his concern for arousing unwanted suspicion from Dominion allies), his arms handcuffed to a chair and virtually still a prisoner as he and the captain discuss the situation at hand. Eddington isn't cuffed and restrained to a chair in any of the other three episodes.
10. Sisko (not Jake) temporarily carries the rank of lieutenant in this episode.

Answer: Trials And Tribble-ations

One of my favorite episodes from the fifth season is a real production classic! When the crew of the Defiant travels back in time and encounters the old Enterprise, the captain dresses in a gold Starfleet uniform like the ones officers wore during the Captain Kirk era.

He explains to Dr. Bashir that he'll pose as a lieutenant, so as to not arouse suspicion--and thus, contaminate the timeline--when they board the Federation's oldest starship. Sisko remains a commander for the entire duration of both "Emissary" and "Past Tense, Part 2", and remains a captain for the entire duration of the fourth-season episode, "The Visitor".
