Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dal'Rok:

Answer: The Storyteller

2. Pel:

Answer: Rules of Acquisition

Pel was the female Ferengi who disguised herself as a male. She risked exposing herself by telling Quark she was in love with him.
3. Chula:

Chula was the name of the Wadi game featured in this episode.
4. Captain Kirk:

Answer: Crossover

James T. Kirk is mentioned by name in this first of several visits to the "mirror universe," discovered in the "TOS" episode "Mirror, Mirror". We would see him in person in the episode "Trials and Tribble-ations", but that is a Season 5 episode.
5. Legate Kell:

Answer: Civil Defense

Legate Kell was Gul Dukat's superior during the Occupation, when the station was Terok Nor. A recorded message from him told Dukat that because he had attempted to desert his post, his command codes were rescinded.
6. Surmak Ren:

Answer: Babel

Surmak Ren was a Bajoran scientist that Kira had recruited (against his will, mind you) to combat the aphasia-like disease that had spread throughout the station. Aphasia is a mental disorder that basically "short-circuits" the speech center of the brain. For example, someone with aphasia may want to say "dog," but the word "ocean" may come out of his mouth instead.
7. Eris:

Answer: The Jem'Hadar

Eris is the first Vorta that we meet. She initially posed as someone being chased by Jem'Hadar soldiers, then turned on Sisko and Quark when she revealed herself as a Dominion ally.
8. Martus:

Answer: Rivals

Martus was the man who opened a gaming center across the way from Quark's, causing a rivalry to exist between the two until Martus went out of business.
9. Tahna Los:

Answer: Past Prologue

Tahna Los was a former member of the Bajoran Resistance, and an acquaintance of Major Kira.
10. Neela:

Answer: In the Hands of the Prophets

Neela was Chief O'Brien's apprentice; she had blown up Keiko O'Brien's school and then tried to assassinate Vedek Bariel. Though it was never proved, Neela was believed to have followed instructions from Vedek (later Kai) Winn (Louise Fletcher).
NOTE -- Louise Fletcher won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975).
11. Ruwon:

Answer: Visionary

Ruwon was a member of the Romulan delegation who had visited DS9 for intelligence purposes regarding the Dominion. This was done in exchange for the cloaking device that was installed on the Defiant.
12. Ensign Pazlar:

Answer: Melora

Ensign Pazlar was the woman who came from a low-gravity environment and, therefore, had to move around in a wheelchair while in normal gravity, which posed a serious challenge for her on the station. Melora was her first name.
13. Tosk:

Answer: Captive Pursuit

Tosk was the "name" of the alien that was being pursued on the station in this episode.
14. Joran Belar:

Answer: Equilibrium

Joran Belar was the Trill who had illegally hosted the Dax symbiont immediately prior to Curzon. The incident had been blocked from Dax's memory, until one day the memory block deteriorated to the point that Jadzia's life was in danger.
15. Retaya:

Answer: Improbable Cause

Retaya was an assassin who was believed to have blown up Garak's shop, but his ship later exploded when Odo and Garak tried to follow him from the station.
16. Arjin:

Answer: Playing God

Arjin was a Trill initiate whom Dax was training in this episode.
17. Kubus:

Answer: The Collaborator

Kubus was an exiled Bajoran who was arrested on the station during his attempt to go to Bajor so that he may live out the remainder of his years at home. Vedek Winn later granted him passage to go home.
18. Lenaris Holem:

Answer: Shakaar

Lenaris Holem is one of the Bajorans in this episode about a man who resisted the recovery efforts of Rakantha Province.
19. Gilora:

Answer: Destiny

Gilora is the female Cardassian scientist who works with O'Brien in this episode.
20. Vaatrick:

Answer: Necessary Evil

Vaatrick was a chemist who had been killed on Terok Nor (DS9) five years before. Kira was among the suspects in the case.
21. Ambassador Krajensky:

Answer: The Adversary

Krajensky told Sisko about a coup on the Tzekenthi homeworld. This very active episode features, among other things, Sisko's promotion to Captain and Odo's killing of another Changeling.
22. Ibudan:

Answer: A Man Alone

Ibudan was a Bajoran whom Odo had arrested for murder some years before. Here, his body was found in a holosuite and Odo became the prime suspect. As it turns out, the murdered man was really Ibudan's clone, whom Ibudan himself had killed to implicate Odo.
23. Rurigan:

Answer: Shadowplay

Rurigan was the founder of a village in the Gamma Quadrant that turned out to be an elaborate holographic projection. When the projector is discovered to be failing, Dax and Sisko make repairs to it so that Rurigan can live out his years in the village.
24. T'Rul:

Answer: The Search, Part I

T'Rul was the Romulan who had accompanied Sisko on the Defiant for her maiden voyage into the Gamma Quadrant. This is the first episode featuring Lt. Cmdr. Michael Eddington.

Dr. Bashir investigates the reason Garak has an implant in his brain that causes him pain. During the search for a cure, Dr. Bashir learns of Elim, a friend of Garak's, who had died some years ago. When he meets with the former head of the Obsidian Order, Enabran Tain, Bashir learns that Elim is Garak's first name.
