Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Trivia Questions

1. Chief O'Brien is at Ops when he is shot with a phaser by an alien intruder; later, after sustaining injury, a Klingon holding him hostage injures him further by kicking him back onto the floor.

From Quiz
Name That Episode #2

Answer: Invasive Procedures

After the group consisting of the Trill, his female alien lover and his two Klingon accomplices board the station, they hold the senior staff hostage at Ops. The Trill sets a example of how serious the situation is by landing a phaser shot to O'Brien's shoulder. Later, when the still-injured O'Brien, Kira and Sisko are discussing Dax's chances of survival, one of the Klingon guards (played by the very-talented Tim Russ, no less!) who's gotten tired of hearing all the talking takes his anger out on O'Brien by kicking the station's chief engineer and knocking him to the floor, re-injuring the phaser-burned shoulder. In "Tribunal", it's true that O'Brien was shot by a blast from one of the Cardassians' hand-held weapons, but he was onboard the runabout and not onboard the station when that happens. In "The Way Of The Warrior", even though the Klingons do end up boarding the station and stunning several security personnel with their hand-held weapons, O'Brien is fortunately not one of the targets of the weapons fire. Then in "By Inferno's Light", there were no Klingons holding anybody hostage; their military presence on the station was agreed upon by Sisko and Gowron.

2. Dr. Bashir is being escorted through a corridor onboard the station by two Starfleet security officers when a group of people run past him, but there isn't anybody or anything visibly chasing the people at all.

From Quiz Name That Episode #1

Answer: Inquisition

In this episode, Bashir finds himself being questioned thoroughly, as he is suspected as being a Dominion spy. In one scene, he is being escorted from his quarters and through a corridor by two Starfleet officers (who are armed with phasers) when a group of uniformed personnel suddenly race past while shouting 'Get back!'. A confused and curious Bashir asks what's going on, but the female Starfleet officer doesn't give him a direct answer, saying it's nothing for him to be concerned about. Presumably, the mad dash through the corridor could've been random personnel directed by Starfleet to prepare the station for another possible takeover by the Dominion. In "The Way of The Warrior", it's true that there were people running around the station at the beginning of the episode during their battle drill, but no single individual was being escorted through the corridor while this was taking place. "Emissary" did feature quite a lot of chaotic activity onboard the station while Sisko was getting acquainted with his new officers, but there was nobody being personally escorted by Starfleet security at any time. No such similar event takes place at all in the sixth-season episode, "Statistical Probabilities".

3. Which "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" character said "Doctor, I do believe there's hope for you yet"?

From Quiz "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" Quotes

Answer: Garak

Spoken during the episode "Our Man Bashir" when Garak is trying to leave the holosuite, which may kill the senior staff. Doctor Bashir fires a bullet that grazes Garak's ear and Garak exclaims that he could have been killed, to which Bashir says "What makes you think I wasn't trying"!

4. "You couldn't ambush a Bolian if he were blindfolded and tied to a tree!"

From Quiz "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" Quotes

Answer: Nog in "The Magnificent Ferengi"

Nog's reply to Rom's suggestion to try 'something easier' after their 'training session', during which Rom runs into a wall and knocks himself out, Quark and Brunt get shot, Gaila runs away and Leck kills Moogie.

5. Who is the highest-ranking Starfleet officer aboard the station?

From Quiz "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"

Answer: Benjamin Sisko

Originally a Commander, he was promoted to Captain during the series. He originally did not want the posting at all, but instead to serve on Earth.

6. Approximately how long did the Cardassian Occupation last?

From Quiz Worm Hole Revelations

Answer: 50 years

The Occupation lasted 50 years. The Bajorans were able to survive due to their religious beliefs.

7. Who killed Jadzia Dax while she was praying to the Prophets?

From Quiz 'DS9' - Who Killed Whom?

Answer: Dukat

He was possessed by a Pah Wraith at the time.

8. Which DS9 star appears in the movie 'American History X'?

From Quiz 'Star Trek DS9'

Answer: Avery Brooks

'American History X' also stars Jennifer Lien, who played Kes in 'Star Trek Voyager'.

9. In the episode 'Rocks and Shoals', what was the name of the young lieutenant assigned to form a burial detail for the dead Federation officers and Jem'Hadar soldiers?

From Quiz 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'

Answer: Neely

The final line in the morally tragic episode where Sisko and crew were forced to fire upon the white-starved Jem'Hadar: 'Lieutenant Neely, form a burial detail.' 'Aye, sir.'

10. Who occupied the station before the Federation arrived?

From Quiz Challenging 'Deep Space Nine'

Answer: The Cardassians

11. Jadzia Dax was married to which fellow officer?

From Quiz Star Trek DS9

Answer: Worf

Unfortunately, they were married only a short while -- Jadzia was killed in the 6th season of the show.

12. Jake and Nog scheme to sell Cardassian merchandise in exchange for latinum, but they only end up with tools before they ultimately end up with a share of land that's never seen.

From Quiz Name That Episode #2

Answer: Progress

The sub-story in this episode features Commander Sisko's son and Quark's nephew scheming to make profit from some Cardassian sauce that Quark has in excessive quantities. They try to sell it to an alien, but he only offers a set of bolts that are said to be priceless. Upon acquiring the bolts, the boys then try to sell them to a Bajoran, who only offers an exchange for ownership of a piece of land. They're disappointed up until the very end, when they discover that a new facility being constructed on Bajor requires usage of that very same piece of land. We never see it in this episode, but we're to assume that this land would be eventually sold, giving Jake and Nog the profit that they had been seeking all along. "In The Cards" showed Jake and his alien friend scheming to not sell merchandise, bur rather, obtain a rare Willie Mays baseball card for Captain Sisko. Jake and Nog aren't scheming to sell anything while working alongside Captain Waters and his Red Squad cadets in "Valiant", and Nog doesn't make an appearance at all in "The Muse".

13. When O'Brien and Bashir beam into the turbolift they don't know how to operate it since the turbolift is not operated by computer until after the refit. Whom do they meet in the turbolift?

From Quiz Trials and Tribble-ations

Answer: Bashir's great-grandmother

It is Bashir's great-grandmother and her name is Elaine Watley. She shows the inexperienced Deep Space Nine crew members how to operate the turbolift. Bashir thinks they are in a time paradox after having met his great-grandmother.

14. Kirayoshi is born in this episode.

From Quiz Name That Episode #1

Answer: The Begotten

The second offspring of Keiko and Chief O'Brien is born under the most unusual circumstances: Major Kira is the one who gives birth to him! Traditionally, births on "Star Trek" have always involved some sort of bizarre complication...and this certainly qualifies as exactly that! There's even some petty feuding between Chief O'Brien and Shakaar as to which man gets the privilege of being by her side. At least at the end of the episode, the labor process is a smooth and painless one for the Bajoran first officer.

15. Complete this quote from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". "I am _. I'm very much alive and intend to stay that way".

From Quiz "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" Quotes

Answer: Chief Miles Edward O'Brien

Spoken during the episode "To The Death", The senior staff and the Jem'Hadar are about to beam down to a planet surface in order to hunt some rogue Jem'Hadar. The First goes into their pre-battle mantra about being dead and victory being life. The quote is O'Brien's comment to the Starfleet personnel before entering the transporter room.

16. "How thoughtless of me not to consider the impact the destruction of my home world would have on your business. These must be trying times. Be brave!"

From Quiz "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" Quotes

Answer: Garak in "The Way of The Warrior"

Another one of my favourite scenes. Garak and Quark discuss their mutual dislike of The Federation, comparing it to the the 'insidious human drink' root beer.

17. What is the title of Odo, the head of station security?

From Quiz "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"

Answer: Constable

Although it's not an "official" rank of Starfleet or the Bajoran Militia, he didn't mind the title.

18. Jadzia Dax was the _______ host of the Dax symbiont.

Answer: 8th

Jadzia was the only Trill initiate to be rejected and return to successfully pass the program. She made history.

26. Dr. Bashir is onboard the Defiant, using a computer to track down the source of a musical composition that is first played on an instrument inside crew quarters before it's heard later in a Starfleet officer's recurring thoughts.

From Quiz Name That Episode #2

Answer: Equilibrium

Not yet realizing that the Dax symbiont possessed the memories of a violent Trill host, the station's chief science officer believes herself to be hallucinating when a recurring musical score keeps entering into her mind. But before we actually see her being haunted by the music and its accompanying imagery, she's playing that same music on Jake's keyboard-like device at the very beginning of the episode while inside Commander Sisko's quarters. Later on in the episode, while onboard the Defiant (which is en route to the Trill homeworld), Dr. Bashir researches the haunting music on the computer, where he and Commander Sisko eventually make the startling connection between the apparent 'hallucinations' and the plot by Dax's people to cover up the whole joining operation.

27. Onboard K7 Odo sits down at the bar. What is going on in the background?

From Quiz Trials and Tribble-ations

Answer: Chekov and Uhura are buying Tribbles from Cyrano Jones

Chekov and Uhura Are buying Tribbles from Cyrano Jones. This is the event that would start the Tribble invasion on the Enterprise and K7.

28. Ezri Dax finds herself being held captive onboard a Breen ship in this episode.

From Quiz Name That Episode #1

Answer: Penumbra

After rescuing Worf and beaming him into the aft section onboard her runabout, the newly-joined Trill and her Klingon beau--at least the beau that Jadzia remembered--don't make it back to Deep Space Nine...at least not right away; instead, they end up in a holding cell. When they regain consciousness, Ezri makes the observation that they are onboard a Breen ship, which later on reveals to them--and their crewmates--that the mysterious aliens have now joined forces with The Dominion.

29. In the 5th season episode "In the Cards", Jake Sisko wants to get his dad a special present at an auction run by Quark. Whose rookie baseball card, from 1951, does Jake get for him?

From Quiz Trekkin' Through The Universe Pt. 5

Answer: Willie Mays

Jake enlists the help of his friend Nog to get the money needed to buy the card, since Federation citizens have no currency, and in the end are unable to win the card at auction. Instead, they must procure a number of pieces of equipment to exchange with Dr. Giger, the scientist who won the auction lot that included the card. Question by Aragom
