Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Picard and two other Starfleet officers are each painting a portrait of a nude woman posing for them in Ten Forward.

Answer: A Matter Of Perspective

Perhaps symbolically serving as a preview to the different 'perspectives' that will be witnessed during the murder simulation, the opening scene shows Picard, plus a plainclothes ensign and a lieutenant, painting a portrait of an unnamed woman who is posing nude for them in Ten Forward. Data is there also, examining and analyzing each artist's personal interpretation, but he goes a little too far with the highly technical conclusions he draws up for Picard's work.
2. In the same episode, Worf complains about having to wear his formal dress uniform to Riker while an alien visitor is excited about the sight of a Human child before walking away with that child hand in hand.

Answer: Liaisons

At the beginning of the episode, Worf is in his quarters with Riker present, putting on his formal dress uniform as they both prepare to meet the three male Iyaaran delegates. A grouchy Worf admits to not liking the specially-made attire, complaining that they look like dresses, to which Riker teases that the Enterprise's resident Klingon looks good in a dress. Later in the episode, the Iyaaran delegate assigned to experience pleasure with Counselor Troi is being given a tour of Engineering when he comes across a Human boy and his red Starfleet uniform-clad mother. Never having seen a child, the pleasure-seeing alien excitedly asks the mother's permission for her son to partake in his indulgences before walking away with the boy, a humored Counselor Troi following in tow.
3. Data is sporting a full beard that he shows off to a couple of guests inside his quarters, but that beard is never seen again after he beams down to a planet with an away team.

Answer: The Schizoid Man

In his continued quest to understand and embrace the different aspects and nuances of humanity, Data has invited Geordi and Counselor Troi to his quarters so that they can witness him sporting a full beard. The reactions Data gets from both of them are awkward, with Troi eventually finding the whole thing humorous and having to excuse herself from the room. I myself agreed with Data--the beard did make him look intellectual and distinguished, and the idea of a mechanical android growing facial hair throughout the lifespan of its operation during the series wouldn't have been so weird, considering that personal grooming is a part of humanity as well.
4. Geordi is shot by a blast from an alien's hand-held weapon while attending an event down on a planet, shortly after his VISOR detects something unusual on a table and right before another Starfleet officer at the event is also shot by alien weapons fire.

Answer: Starship Mine

In one of my favorite episodes from the sixth season (enemy takeovers are always fun!), Geordi and some of the other senior officers are down on Arcaria, attending a warm reception for the talkative Commander Hutchinson. While making his way past the buffet table in the open plaza, Geordi begins scrutinizing the table more closely, informing one of the Arcarians that he's detected some strange energy readings. Suddenly, the situation becomes tense, and before Geordi and his comrades realize what's going on, Geordi is physically knocked to the ground by one of the Arcarians before being blasted in the chest with one of their hand-held weapons.

Then when a confused and concerned Commander Hutchinson enters the area, he too is shot by one of the aliens' hand-held weapons.

It quickly becomes very clear that the Arcarians have another agenda than simply playing host to the festivities.
5. Wesley's eyelids are physically forced open while he is being held down in a chair in this episode.

Answer: The Game

Once the mind-controlling 'game' devices that Riker brought back with him from Risa have affected everyone else on the ship, including his new love interest working in Engineering, Wesley attempts to elude capture from his superior officers. After being cornered in the Jefferies tube, he is escorted to the bridge and shoved down into a chair, Riker forcing the young ensign's eyelids open while Dr. Crusher affixes one of the 'game' devices to her son's head.

The tiny beams of energy are then able to penetrate Wesley's pupils, which is how his shipmates are able to see inside their virtual world.
6. Yar is inside Counselor Troi's quarters, sizing herself up to various dresses in a mirror, but she leaves without putting on a single one and instead heads into Engineering.

Answer: The Naked Now

Having become intoxicated following the away team's transport over to the science vessel, Yar is inside Counselor Troi's quarters without authorization, giggling to herself while she sizes herself up to an assortment of dresses in a floor mirror. When Troi offers that none of the dresses are Yar's style, the chief of security happily exits and free-spiritedly walks into Engineering, where she soon finds herself in a passionate lip-lock with a young science officer. Meanwhile, a concerned Troi contacts Picard over the com, informing her captain that Yar has become the latest senior officer to fall victim to the intoxicating condition.
7. Alexander is holding a knife in sickbay in this episode.

Answer: Ethics

After suffering the injury to his spinal column, a paralyzed and bed-ridden Worf had been wanting to undergo a Klingon 'suicide' ritual, one where someone close to him would stab him in the heart with a special knife. Riker had arrived with the knife first, but refused to go through with contributing to the death of a friend and comrade. Alexander arrives in sickbay later, but instead of asking his half-Klingon son to perform the ritual, Worf says that he's had a change of heart and tells Alexander to take the knife back to their quarters. Alexander is then seen taking the jagged weapon and happily walking out of the room with it, the knife never to be seen again for the remainder of the episode.
8. A Romulan ship set for auto self-destruct explodes in space outside of the viewport in the Observation Lounge while the senior staff is discussing a plan to investigate it, shortly after being fired upon by a more powerful Romulan ship.

Answer: The Defector

The key clue in answering this question is the fact that a Romulan ship was attacking another Romulan ship. The scout ship at the very beginning of the episode has entered into The Neutral Zone in an attempt to flee from the de-cloaking warbird. When the Enterprise intervenes, it successfully shields the scout ship while the warbird re-cloaks and retreats before it can be fired upon. Moments later, after the Romulan 'defector' has been brought aboard to discuss the situation in the Observation Lounge, the scout ship is seen exploding in space just as Picard and the rest of the senior staff are discussing their plans to board it and learn more about Romulan technology.

The 'defector' reveals shortly afterwards, while he's recovering from his injuries in sickbay, that he purposely initiated an auto self-destruct of his own ship to prevent the Federation from salvaging it and using it to its tactical advantage.
9. The Enterprise fires multiple beams from the deflector dish while simultaneously firing phasers down onto the surface of a planet experiencing an arctic climate change, hoping to correct the planet's atmospheric and volcanic surface conditions and to prevent a disaster comparable to a nuclear winter on Earth.

Answer: A Matter Of Time

One of the coolest visual effects seen in the series is towards the end of this episode, when Picard gives the order to go ahead with using the Enterprise to reverse the arctic climate changes that have threatened the Panthara IV colony. The deflector is activated first, which fires multiple white beams of energy towards a specified point on the planet's surface, followed by a phaser blast directed at the exact same point.

The result is a massive coloration shift that spreads like a wildfire until the entire planet is engulfed in a reddish-orange color. Completing the spectacular visual effects show is Data activating the shields to draw the energy from the combined phaser/delfector beam build-up into the Enterprise's exterior, creating a new bluish glow effect around the ship as well as around the planet. All of this is then channeled into a safe and empty part of space away from the planet, the crew successful in its mission in preventing the nuclear-winter disaster of the Panthara IV colony.
10. Worf is down on a planet, placing an electronic device in the ground that emits beams of red energy and temporarily disables the sensors on a massive metal door, but he and his comrades are surprised when they walk through and discover that the interior installation they were seeking is nowhere to be found.

Answer: Chain Of Command, Part 1

Worf, along with Dr. Crusher and Picard, are traversing the caves of Celtriis III, searching for the secret Cardassian laboratory where a deadly virus was supposedly in preparation. Upon reaching a maintenance door, Worf produces an electronic stake that he jams into the ground, which emits red beams of energy and disables the door's locking mechanism.

The trio then enters inside, but to their dismay, they discover that a machine inside the area was only creating false signals to lure them into an ambush, and they soon find themselves under attack by the hand-held weapons fire of Cardassian assailants.
