Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What kind of sporting event did Hank challenge Bill to, for a future date?

Answer: tennis

Hank and Becca walked in on a dress rehearsal for Bill and Karen's wedding. Bill arrived moments later, having just come from a tennis victory. So, Hank then challenged Bill to a tennis date, but the more manly version of tennis with wooden rackets, knee socks and plum smugglers. The latter, I'm sure, being a subtle reference to man parts.
2. Before Hank could leave Bill's house, Becca needed a private meeting with both of parents. What did she talk to them about?

Answer: she told them she wanted to live with Hank

Her parents urged her to be candid in front of Bill, so Becca just said it. She wanted to live most of her time with Hank, but would still visit her mom. Karen immediately looked at Hank as though he'd put Becca up to the request, but he denied any prior knowledge of her idea.
3. Hank found out that Mia stole his book.

Answer: True

He was having lunch with Charlie, and Charlie told Hank about Mia's new book. Hank took a look at it and realized it was the novel he'd thought was gone for good. Mia had made herself a copy before she returned it to Karen. Hank took off to confront Mia, but encountered a very hurt Karen instead.
4. Karen was worried that Hank would forget to feed Becca, so she decided to make her a week's worth of what?

Answer: sandwiches

Bill needed Karen to sign some legal papers, so he took her away from her sandwich making task. He tried to comfort her somewhat by saying Becca was going through a phase, possibly copying Mia's acts of independence. He even offered the idea that Hank would let Becca down very quickly, as was Hank's way, and she'd be ready to come home soon afterward.
5. "You are a very young sociopath in training." Who was this quote spoken about?

Answer: Mia

Hank confronted Mia after her interview with his own publisher, Vickie Newsome. Mia told him that her theft was basically a revenge scenario for him having sex with her and then ignoring her. She took no responsibility for the fact that she intentionally mislead the man. She also informed him that she re-typed it, adding her own Mia-like touches to cover the fact that it was his work. She told him that people would see it as more of an homage to his earlier works.

After Hank said the quote to Mia, she replied, "that's like Satan calling one his junior minions a big meanie."
6. Becca told Mia the real reason she was moving in with Hank, what was it?

Answer: he'd hit rock bottom

She explained, after Mia gushed on about how great Hank was, that she was moving in to keep him from being all alone. She said that with the new novel obviously no longer happening, he'd hit rock bottom. Mia seemed to feel a bit guilty when she heard this.
7. Charlie came to Hank's and told him that he knew from the first page Mia's book was really one of Hank's works.

Answer: True

Hank opened the door and Charlie said, "loved your new novel". He said the new book gave him the same feeling as the first time he'd read anything of Hank's, back in 1987. Hank admitted that the book was based on facts about he and Mia, and explained the why and wherefore of it all. Charlie was shocked, but understanding, and offered to do whatever Hank wanted him to do.
8. Did Hank apologize to Karen for the pain she felt at Becca's decision?

Answer: Yes

He told her that he hadn't won, because her being upset was never a victory. Then he added, except if she was that sad after sex with Bill. That made her smile.
9. Who came to Hank's house the night Becca moved in, after they were both asleep?

Answer: Karen

Karen couldn't sleep, and Bill wouldn't wake up, so she went back over to Hank's. She tucked Becca in and kissed her, and turned off Hank's bedroom light.
10. Which actress played Hank's publisher Vickie Newsome?

Answer: Mo Collins

Mo, whose real name is Maureen, spent several seasons on Fox's skit series "MadTV". She also guest starred on "Arrested Development" and "According to Jim". In this episode she was courting Mia's new novel, which was really Hank's. She described the new one as a lot like Hank's earlier work, only less juvenile.
