It was Saturday and Dan said you can't rush "great art". It did not appear as though his family shared his opinion of the chili. I also remember Cliff Huxtable going through a famous chili routine on one episode of "The Cosby Show".

The pipes in her building froze, and Dan was not at all pleased to hear she was going to be sleeping over that weekend. She spent most of the episode saying "You know what your problem is Dan?"

Becky was reading an article that explained how to read your boyfriend's body language. Roseanne commented that one time the same magazine had an article called "50 ways to say I love you, using only your eyes". She also said if Becky's boyfriend's body started talking, she wanted to know.

She laughed about it when she was caught, but half-heartedly apologized. The way Jackie and Dan were portrayed in the first season was a lot of fun to watch, but I feel it belied the future portrayals of their characters. Once Roseanne had more creative control over the show, the characters seem to develop more believably.

It was hard to buy Dan and Jackie at each other's throats after 15 years of his marriage to Roseanne. If Jackie really did come over almost everyday, it may be annoying, but something Dan would have been well used to and over by then.

She was using an old oatmeal carton and a lot of wooden flats to create a castle. She was doing it at the last minute, so when DJ destroyed it later- she didn't have a lot of time to repair.

Roseanne and Dan sat facing each other, touching hands lightly. They were supposed to convey a feeling just with touch, and the other person should be able to guess it. Instead of taking it seriously, though, they played around with each other.

Jackie tried to act nonchalant about it at first, then tried to make him feel guilty for his list, and finally just said something really tactless. Dan had not worked much, and had been turned down for a job that same day. When Dan said she was over at the house all of the time, Jackie responded with "If you had a job, you wouldn't even notice so much."

She whipped them out in their kitchen. Dan seemed embarrassed and eager to have them concealed again, so I've always assumed they were his. But, before they were out of the scene, Roseanne held them out and Dan pretended to be a bull running through a red blanket.

This was when Jackie started to get her feelings hurt and accused Dan's jokes of being closer to the truth than not. He then got irritated and asked why she has to analyze everything he says in the first place. It was not too much longer before Dan was making his list of irritating Jackie traits.

Jackie mentioned this very early on. She told Dan he needed to add more peppers to the pot. It was at the very end when little DJ told him mom that the chili was "just a little bit bland".
