Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was tossed into the furnace in the opening scene?

Answer: Lighter

The Penguin and his goons, Hawkeye and Sparrow, watched from a television in his office as Bruce was about to slip into the furnace. Bruce woke up and quickly took out a lighter from his coat pocket. He threw it into the furnace, causing it to explode.
2. The Penguin advised his men to not chase the man who escaped death from the furnace.

Answer: True

Once Bruce got himself untangled from the net, he began to run off so Hawkeye and Sparrow picked up guns to shoot him dead. The Penguin informed them both that it would be best if Bruce ran off but they worried he would turn them into the police. The Penguin responded that Bruce was a crook himself by attempting to bug his office, which reduced the likelihood of his seeking law enforcement aid.
3. Batman and Robin figured out early on that The Penguin planned to strike at what location in Gotham City?

Answer: The museum

Batman and Robin spoke in the Batcave about perhaps looking within the umbrella they had to figure out where The Penguin would commit his latest misdeed. Robin deduced that all the colors comprising the umbrella meant that The Penguin wanted to snare some gems at the museum. They both looked at a blueprint of the museum.
4. Batman and Robin eventually learned that The Penguin planned to kidnap which woman?

Answer: Dawn Robbins

Batman and Robin realized via a blueprint of the museum that The Penguin could not commit a crime there due to the security layout. They continued tossing out ideas on what the umbrella's colors meant. They realized that the colors were as beautiful as a movie star named Dawn Robbins who was in town. They then realized that The Penguin planned to abduct the actress.
5. It was revealed that the woman who The Penguin wanted to abduct was staying at what hotel?

Answer: Pelican Arms Hotel

Batman told Robin that Dawn Robbins would be staying at the Pelican Arms Hotel in Gotham City so both of them went to retrieve a map of that location. Batman realized that the hotel was the perfect place for The Penguin to grab Dawn due to the surrounding buildings. Robin asked Batman if they should notify Commissioner Gordon but he advised him that they would deal with The Penguin on their own.
6. Which actress played a movie star in this episode?

Answer: Leslie Parrish

Parrish, born on March 13th, 1935 in Melrose, Massachusetts guest starred as Dawn Robbins, the movie star who The Penguin planned to kidnap. She played the part for just this one episode. She has also guest starred on the TV series' "The Wild Wild West", "My Three Sons" and "Kentucky Jones".
7. The Penguin watched the woman who he planned to kidnap from right outside her hotel room. What was she and another gentleman doing while he spied on her?

Answer: Playing cards

The Penguin and his goons managed to fly across to Dawn Robbins' hotel room with their gigantic umbrellas. When The Penguin reached her room, he stood outside of it while peering inside to see she and a gentleman named Mr. Jay playing cards. The Penguin jumped into the room, knocked out both Dawn and the man with gas from his umbrella, and managed to kidnap Dawn after he used a magnet to thwart the Dynamic Duo from catching him.
8. Which actor played Mr. Jay in this episode?

Answer: Dan Tobin

Tobin, born on October 19th, 1910 in Cincinnati, Ohio was cast as Mr. Jay in this showing of "Batman". He played the role for just this one episode. He has had guest starring stints on the TV shows "The Odd Couple", "Marcus Welby, M.D." and "Barnaby Jones".
9. Batman suggested to Mr. Jay that they not pay The Penguin's ransom on the woman he kidnapped.

Answer: False

Mr. Jay spoke with Batman, Robin, Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara at Gotham City Police Headquarters about The Penguin's demands in order to release Dawn Robbins. Mr. Jay said he had the amount of money which The Penguin asked for in exchange for Dawn's life. Batman suggested they simply pay him that dollar figure to ensure Dawn's safety.
10. When The Penguin went to Wayne Manor, who answered the door for him?

Answer: Alfred

The Penguin learned that the ransom amount for Dawn was at Wayne Manor so he embarked there to retrieve it. When he rang the doorbell, Alfred answered it so he knocked him out courtesy of the gas from his umbrella. The Penguin entered the home and noticed two armored statues nearby so he sprayed his gas in that direction just in case anyone hid out inside them.
