In the previous episode, Mr. Freeze froze Batman and Robin so this episode began with an attempt to unfreeze the two. Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara asked someone named Vince if there was any chance they would be successful at defrosting the crime fighting duo. Vince said he would do the best he could but could not guarantee a miracle.

In Mr. Freeze's first scene in this episode, he watched a news broadcast discussing what happened to Batman and Robin when one of his henchmen came to talk to him. He told Mr. Freeze that their aptly named Operation Big Diamond caper was successful since they captured Princess Sandra's expensive diamond. Mr. Freeze directed his aide to bring him the diamond and the henchman obliged.

Mr. Freeze watched on his TV the beginning of the charity baseball event where Princess Sandra appeared. The broadcaster announced she would deliver the opening pitch. Bruce Wayne was right beside Princess Sandra when she threw the ball.

Right after Princess Sandra pitched the ball, she and Bruce sat down to chat when he mentioned how they were together under unfortunate circumstances. This was when he brought up how her diamond had been stolen the previous night but Princess Sandra stated she was more grateful that Batman and Robin did not die. Just then, Dick showed up and mentioned to both Bruce and Princess Sandra how much he enjoyed baseball.

At the baseball game, the announcer said there had been a substitution in the line up for the Gotham City baseball team. He stated that Paul Diamante had been taken off the roster for that day. After the announcer mentioned that nobody knew where Paul was, Princess Sandra said she did not understand what was happening.

At Gotham City Police Headquarters, Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara spoke with Batman and Robin about Mr. Freeze. While they spoke, Commissioner Gordon's phone rang off so he answered it. Mr. Freeze was on the other line so Commissioner Gordon placed the phone on speaker so all four of them could listen.

As Mr. Freeze continued to talk on the phone, Commissioner Gordon, Chief O'Hara, Batman and Robin heard from Paul Diamante on that end. Paul said that Mr. Freeze was holding him captive so Batman asked Paul where he was. Paul answered that he had no idea where Mr. Freeze's hideout was located but begged the Dynamic Duo to help him.

Batman asked Mr. Freeze what he wanted in exchange for Paul Diamante so Mr. Freeze answered that he wanted to exchange Paul for the Caped Crusader himself. Batman told him over the phone he would take his place for Paul's freedom and Mr. Freeze informed him where to meet.

At the location, Paul was released while Batman became Mr. Freeze's hostage. Later on, Mr. Freeze also caught Robin when he located Mr. Freeze's hideout.

Terranova, born on April 9th, 1930 in New York City, was cast as Vince, the physician who unfroze Batman and Robin in this episode. This was the only episode of "Batman" in which Terranova made a guest starring appearance. Terranova also guest starred on the TV series' "Manhunt", "Twilight Zone" and "Gunsmoke".

There was a social function in the episode's final scene in which Princess Sandra was seen with her date, baseball player Paul Diamante. Bruce and Dick were also there so she mentioned how awkward it was for the two of them to rush out of a baseball game to attend a board meeting.
