Erica eventually broke her engagement to Brandon and went to Milan for a promotional tour for Sensuelle. Kent went to Milan, with Erica, and they made love there. Erica arranged for Kent to find out about her and Brandon's one night stand, in Milan, and Brandon did find out.

However, Erica decided she ultimately wanted Brandon and begged him not to tell Kent of their reunion.

"AMC" filmed the Switzerland scenes on location in the Swiss city, Grindenwald.

Prior to the Labor Day picnic, Cliff and Nina were on bad terms with their marriage, since Cliff felt Nina spent too much time at Cortlandt Electronics and she had neglected him and Bobby. Cliff and Nina fought, at the picnic, and Steve Jacobi noticed them and used their fighting as an opportunity to swoop in on Nina and plant a kiss on her. Nina and Steve Jacobi had a brief affair.

Ellen and Mark's relationship hit the skids when she informed Mark she wanted a baby, but had her doubts that she could conceive at such an old age. Mark had problems, at Pine Valley University, when he was denied tenure. Mark broke up, with Ellen, and started seeing Pamela Kingsley, Brandon's daughter, after the break-up. They made love but their relationship did not last long.

Ray made another escape from prison, and continued to try and exact revenge on the Martins. He eventually ran into his ex-wife, Opal, and he blackmailed her into giving him a job at her business, The Glamorama. Opal hired him and one day, in the back room, he looked at a plan to make a bomb that he would use on New Year's Eve of 1982.
