They were shocked when they also came upon Alexandra's very much alive sister, Anna Devane (Anna had been presumed dead while on "General Hospital"). Ryan and Gillian faced many obstacles but were ready to remarry in front of many family and friends. They initially planned to elope at city hall but Dimitri planned a huge fairy tale wedding for the lovebirds. Ryan and Gillian were thrilled at what he pulled off so they tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony.

Many "All My Children" fans consider this to be one of the best weddings ever on the soap.

JR had started to act out and this frustrated Tad, Dixie, Adam and a host of other people. One of his shameful acts during 2001 was fighting with a police officer, for which he was arrested. However, JR was never convicted of this crime but nonetheless continued to rebel against loved ones.

Laura had been in the hospital for several weeks since she overdosed on drugs. It was revealed that her condition became so bad that she needed a heart transplant. Brooke feared that Laura would give up on life so she encouraged Leo to get close to her and eventually propose to her. Leo did pop the question to Laura and the two got hitched immediately afterwards.

The mysterious Mia Saunders arrived in town at a Poker game, which upset Marian. She asked Ryan to make her disappear since she knew that Mia had a secret: she was Liza's half sister since the two had the same father, Larry Colby. Despite Ryan's best efforts, he was unable to get Mia to depart Pine Valley.

Rosa had begun a romantic fling with Marcus Dunn but it was shown in a flashback that Marcus made unwanted sexual advances on her. Rosa fought them off but did not immediately reveal that Marcus had nearly raped her. She eventually told Mateo about this and he promised her that he would look into the matter.

Bianca had become attracted to newcomer Frankie and the two maintained a close bond. However, Bianca was disheartened when she noticed Frankie one night in bed with JR. She stormed off but Frankie could not explain herself to Bianca since she wound up shot dead.

David was at the hospital and stole a vial of Dixie's blood since he believed she was pregnant. She confronted David about what he did since she felt he had no business violating her medical privacy in that way. Vanessa found out about this and yelled at Dixie for being nasty to her son but Dixie maintained her views.
