Erica made a major business decision at the beginning of the year to hire a new Chief Financial Officer: Lena Kundera. Her credentials impressed Ms. Kane enough that she would be given a top executive position at the major business. However, it was revealed that Lena was in cahoots with Michael Cambias, a corporate raider who had a history of taking over companies like Enchantment.

Kendall got in trouble with Palmer since she babysat his son, Pete, one day and he got out of her sight. To punish her, Palmer evicted Fusion from the office building where they were since he leased it to them. However, he offered to give it back to her on one condition: she make peace with Erica. Kendall agreed to do this since she loved Fusion too much to miss out on making it a huge enterprise.

In one scene in April, Liza and Mia had a heart to heart talk since she was developing feelings for Edmund and also bonded with his daughter, Maddie. This led to them having an irreparable rift since the two eventually divorced shortly afterwards without any signs of reconciling.

Megan McTavish had just returned to the show as head writer and the first major storyline she penned was Michael raping Bianca. Michael did this in Myrtle's boarding house right after Adam bailed him out of jail. Michael's rationale towards raping Bianca was due to the fact that she was close to all his enemies and could hurt them by harming her. For their performances in this storyline, William DeVry (Michael) and Eden Riegel (Bianca) received Daytime Emmy nominations.

Near Christmas time, Bianca spent some time with Myrtle at her boarding house to discuss personal issues and freaked out once she saw the couch. Bianca asked Myrtle why she kept it there since she knew that was where Michael had raped Bianca.
