Edmund investigated a gang called The Calatravas since they were after Juan Pablo. On New Year's of 2004, the Calatravas' gang held Kendall, Ryan, Mia, Aidan, Greenlee, and Maria hostage. When Edmund went to rescue Maria, he was shot. The doctors found the bullet lodged against his spine and this resulted in Edmund being paralyzed. Edmund's doctor said he could perform surgery to get Edmund to walk again but Maria advised Edmund against it since he could die while in surgery. Edmund went with the surgery and it proved to not work since Edmund was still paralyzed. Several months later, Edmund regained sensation in his legs and he could walk again.

Greenlee went to Miller's Falls to talk to Leo and share some of her most fondest memories of him. While she walked, she wound up falling into a mineshaft and remained there for several days. Ryan found Greenlee and rescued her.

Babe and Bianca went out on the road, one night, in their car and their car crashed. They made way to a cabin and Bianca went into labor. Babe delivered Bianca's baby girl, who she named Miranda Mona Montgomery. Babe went out looking for help and wound up at David's cabin out at Willow Lake.

She called up Paul Cramer and asked him to come help her. Paul went and delivered Babe's baby boy. This was where Paul staged a helicopter crash and he initially told Babe that her son had died when the helicopter crashed.

However, he changed his story and said it was Bianca's baby who died (in reality, Bianca's baby was really alive and thought to be Babe's child with JR. Babe's son was being raised by Kelly Cramer in Llanview for several months).

Bianca was told that her baby, Miranda, had died but she did not want to believe it. One day, Bianca heard a baby crying and she thought it was Miranda (it actually was Miranda but everyone was convinced that the baby was "Bess Chandler"). She took the baby from the hospital nursery and went to Erica's penthouse to have Miranda meet Grandma Erica. Ryan and Kendall went to the penthouse and told Bianca that Miranda had "died" and she had JR and Babe's "daughter." Bianca returned to the hospital with "Bess" and gave her back to JR and Babe. JR did not file charges against Bianca since he knew she had "Bess" and that "Bess" was in good hands with Bianca.

Ryan decided that he was going to marry Greenlee so that he could give her back Fusion. Ryan went to Livia and had her write up a prenuptial agreement. Ryan and Greenlee married and, while they tied the knot for business purposes, they soon found pleasure and fell in love.

David ran a DNA test on "Bess" to see if she really was Bianca's daughter, Miranda, since he had suspicions that Bianca's baby was really alive. David took a sample of Babe's DNA and tested it with the DNA of "Bess" and the test revealed they were not a match. David confronted Krystal about this and she said she changed the initial test results that proved "Bess" was Miranda. David planned to tell Bianca the truth but Krystal told him that he was Babe's biological father and threatened to keep him out of Babe's life if he told the truth. David doubted Krystal's story but he took a DNA test and realized he, indeed, was Babe's biological father.

Lily had run off from Chandler Mansion, where Reggie took her since she had important information regarding JR framing Jamie for drugging Babe. Erica spotted Lily on the road, as she drove home from rehab (she had gone to rehab, earlier in the month, to treat her alcoholism. Erica had completed the rehab program by the time she found Lily on the road). Erica comforted Lily and realized that Lily was afraid of the red stoplight. Erica brought Lily back to Jack's loft and Jack was thrilled.

Jamie decided that he wanted to go undercover at the Pine Valley jail (he had been released on bail. He was arrested for drugging Babe but JR framed him and JR was the real culprit) to get a taped confession out of Seth, a drug dealer. Jamie wore a wire and Seth confessed that JR came to him for drugs and Seth provided them. Seth saw that Jamie had the confession recorded and he stabbed him. Brooke was in another part of the police station and saw Jamie stabbed on the monitor and screamed in horror.

Liza saw what JR had turned into, thanks to his father's influence, and she decided she could not let her daughter, Colby, grow up near Adam so she left town with Colby. Tad arranged a new identity for Liza but Colby did not get a new identity. Tad and Liza shared a goodbye before she left town and went on the run with Colby. Liza returned to Pine Valley in April of 2009.
