Answer: the truth

The Narn-Centauri War is causing problems for everyone. The Narn are losing the war and G'Kar is desperately seeking aid from the other races. Londo is suffering because people are aware of his involvement in the war, and do not want to have anything to do with him or the Centauri. And to top it off, the Narn and Centauri have been starting fights on Babylon 5. G'Kar ends up taking a poison blade in the arm in order to establish his control over the Narns on the station. Londo agrees not to press charges against the Narn for the death of a Centauri troublemaker on the station.

Answer: Lumati

There are two representatives from the Lumati, Correlilmurzon and his aide, Taq. Ivanova is confused when she first meets them because Taq does all of the speaking, even when questions are directed directly at Correlilmurzon. Ivanova asks: "Are you incapable of speech?" Taq/Correlilmurzon: "Heh, no, of course not.

But it would represent a loss of face for me to communicate with an inferior race. Before I can speak with you directly, I must determine if your species is worthy. Yes. If so, we may even allow others of my kind to honor you with their presence." Ivanova: "Well, isn't that wonderful."

Answer: medical supplies and surplus food

G'Kar goes to Sheridan and the command staff to discuss Earth coming into the war on behalf of the Narn. Sheridan is sympathetic and says he will speak to his government. During the conversation Sheridan says: "G'Kar, everyone in this room knows too well that the first casualty of war is always the truth." G'Kar also approaches Delenn about the same thing.

Here is their converstion. G'Kar: "The war is young, the Centauri are still in the process of committing their forces, some in their government are unsure about the entire affair.

They only need a reason not to fight. If the Minbari intervene, you could provide that reason. You could save hundreds of thousands of lives." Delenn: "Narn lives." G'Kar: "And Centauri." Delenn: "But you said many times that you would never rest until the Centauri had been utterly destroyed. Do we help you now, knowing that in a few years, when your force is at full strength, the Centauri will ask us for help against you? You must know that your recent actions in the recent past, the things you've said, make it difficult for anyone to come to your aid now." G'Kar: "I know.

But what else could I do? When you have been crushed beneath the wheel for as long as we have, revenge occupies your every waking thought. When everything else had been taken from us, our hatred kept us alive." Delenn: "And now it may destroy you." In the end, Sheridan and Delenn can only offer unofficial support, medical supplies, surplus food, and transport of refugees.

Answer: wishing well

Londo complains to Vir about all the unwanted attention he is receiving from Centauri on the station since he has gained influence in the Centauri government: "Six months ago they were hardly aware of me. Now, suddenly everyone is my friend, everyone wants something. I wanted respect. Instead I've turned to a wishing-well with legs."

Answer: Franklin

Ivanova takes the Lumati on a tour of the station, eventually ending up in Medlab, where Dr. Franklin describes his role as the stations doctor. We learn that the Lumati have an interesting outlook on life -- Taq/Correlilmurzon: "I do not understand. Why go through all this to save the lives of potentially inferior species? Evolution is driven by blood.

The weak die, and the strong survive. By preserving the sick and wounded of other races you pollute the genetic pool. It does not serve evolution." Franklin: "My job isn't serving evolution, it's serving humanity, even when the patient isn't human...I don't believe that any form of sentient life is inferior to any other." Taq/Correlilmurzon: "Yes, we often hear that argument from inferior species and their sympathizers."

Answer: Garibaldi

Londo and Garibaldi have been friends since the early days of Babylon 5, but Londo's recent actions have strained their friendship. Here are some bits and pieces from Londo and Garibaldi's conversation in the Zocalo. Londo: "Mr. Garibaldi, a moment of joy in a lifetime of sorrow. Take it while you can." ... "No, I don't want a receipt." Garibaldi: "Then what do you want?" Londo: "I want you to stay! And have a little drink for me. I want you to be happy, I want me to be happy. I want you to be happy for me and me to be happy for you. Is that so much to ask around here? Why is everyone here walking around like they are afraid of me?" Garibaldi: "Maybe we are." ... Londo: "In my time here, very few people on this station have listened to me or taken me seriously...until recently. Now I have friends I never knew were there.

But you, you always listened to me. You were always kind to me, even when you had nothing to gain. And now that things are changing and I look around for someone to share my good fortune with, there is no one. Except you, my good, close friend Garibaldi." After Garibaldi leaves...Londo: "That was my good friend, Mr. Garibaldi.

It is good to have friends, is it not?"

Answer: Franklin

Ivanova and Franklin are in Earhart's and she is trying to find a way out of having sex with the Lumati ambassador, and still keep the alliance intact. Franklin suggests: "Well, you could put a bag over his head and do it for Babylon 5...Maybe not." Ivanova: "I'm doomed." Franklin: "I could inject you with something, make you sick.

After all, he doesn't know a thing about anybody's biology but his own. He'd probably fall for it." Ivanova: "That's it!" Ivanova runs off leaving Franklin at the bar. Franklin calls after her: "I'll get a needle."

Answer: Lurkers in Downbelow

The Lumati want to see the realities of Babylon 5, and since they have heard about Downbelow, they want to be taken there. Ivanova reluctantly agrees, and she makes an interesting breakthrough. Taq/Correlilmurzon: "You said these are your own species, yes?" Ivanova: "We call them Lurkers, and yes, humans mostly.

They come to Babylon 5 in search of new lives, new opportunities. Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, quite often they don't have enough money for a return ticket, so they end up getting small jobs here and there.

When those go dry, they end up moving into the undeveloped parts of the station, DownBelow. Anyway, this is something you shouldn't really be seeing." Taq/Correlilmurzon: "Most impressive." Ivanova: "Excuse me?" Taq/Correlilmurzon: "We have isolated ourselves from inferior species, but you, you have shown the will and the strength to isolate the genetically inferior parts of your own species, as an evolutionary protection." Ivanova: "I don't think you don't understand.

This was not intentional." Taq/Correlilmurzon: "You're too modest, you're too modest. It's a brilliant move, Commander. You see, you isolate the genetic pool, you limit their chances for procreation, you create a workforce without a power base to challenge you. This is not something we thought of, but it's something we will institute on our world at the first opportunity. You see, alliances..." Correlilmurzon: "Alliances are built upon more than tactical advantages, they are built on similarities of culture. And it would appear that we are more similar than I had first suspected. Congratulations, Commander. This more than anything else has convinced me that you are worthy of an alliance. We will go now and discuss the terms of our alliance." Ivanova: "Thank you, but I, uh, this is not, ah hell."

Answer: sex

Ivanova meets with Taq and Correlilmurzon in Sheridan's office. Correlilmurzon: "Tradition is important to my culture. Our important agreements are symbolic with coming together in perfect union." Ivanova: "Well, this certainly qualifies. The Captain felt very strongly about making this deal happen." Correlilmurzon: "Then we will conclude this deal in our traditional manner, we will have sex." Ivanova: "Sex?!" Correlilmurzon: "It is necessary to finalize the agreement."

Answer: next time my way

Ivanova got the idea to fake a human sexual encounter, since she assumes that the Lumati will not know anything about how humans do it. They meet in Ivanova's quarters, she's looking sexy and he starts to undress. She stops him and says that she doesn't think he would be up to doing it the human way.

He doesn't want to seem inferior so he agrees. Ivanova starts dancing around him and chanting: "Boom! Shubba-lubba-lubba. Boom! Shubba-lubba-lubba. Hey there, hey there, three bags full. You come here often? Yes, I do! Dinner! Shubba-lubba-lubba. Drinks! Shubba-lubba-lubba. Kiss. Kiss. Kiss. Kiss. Kiss. Grab. How do you like it so far?" Correlilmurzon: "Well, I..." Ivanova: "I slept with you the other night. You didn't call, you didn't write. I think you did it just for spite! Oh... yes... Oh, yes! Oh, yes! OH! YES! Tell me about your portfolio! Oh! Yes! Yes! Yes! YES! Lie to me about your family! Oh, yes! Oh, Yes! Oh, YES! Yes! Yes! YES! YEAAA! OH! Oh...! Oh... God you're good." Correlilmurzon: "What do I do now?" Ivanova: "Old style? You roll over and go to bed. New style? You go out for pizza and I never see you again." Correlilmurzon leaves, but Taq stays a bit, gives her a knowing smile and kisses her hand.
