The scene showed Angel and Darla in bed after having sex in the previous episode "Reprise". Angel awakened gasping for breath, funny since he claimed not to have breath, much in the way he did in the "BTVS" episode "Surprise/Innocence" when he did actually lose his soul and become Angelus. It is nice how these scenes always seem to include a rain storm.

In the previous episode, she had left a message on the machine at the hotel, in it she let it be known she was killing herself. She was circling the drain, so to speak, and she wanted to vent to Angel about how messed up it all was. At first Angel chose to ignore it.

After his round with Darla, he changed his mind. Kate seemed to marvel in his ability to get inside despite never having an invite. I think the simpler answer was that Kate's heart stopped briefly. Just my theory.

Angel had never been to Wes' apartment and needed to be invited inside before the demons attacked Wes. He'd never been there before, but knew exactly where it was located. Angel had not been the best friend, or partner in crime fighting, up to that point. After the duo killed the demons, Wes was covered in what appeared to be lemon pie filling, or also known as demon blood!

Lindsey demanded to know all the things Angel and Darla had done. Angel refused to answer, so after 7 smacks with a huge steel hammer, Lindsey retrieved a stake from the bed of the truck. Angel never gave him the chance to use it, he beat him up and used the hammer to smash his fake hand.

It was Kate who offered the word epiphany, though, not Angel. He did talk about his epiphany with all of the other choices and Gunn as well.
Kate: "Yikes, it sounds like you've had an epiphany."
Angel: "I keep saying that, but nobody's listening."

The note was presumably from Angel, for borrowing the truck after beating Lindsey down. When Linds went back to his apartment, all of Darla's stuff was gone. She may have left the note, but doubtful for a few reasons. One reason, why not just leave it inside his place? Two, Angel probably still had the truck when Darla left (at night). And, three, it's doubtful that soulless vamp Darla would have bothered to thank Lindsey.
