1. In the car before going into the woods, where did George Kearns offer to take Paula?

Answer: the motel

They were having an affair and George reasoned that since Paula wasn't in high school anymore, they could go to a hotel. Paula didn't want to and led him into the woods where he was attacked by a man in an African-looking mask.

2. When did Mrs. Kearns say George Kearns had left her?

Answer: when she was 40

George apparently had a weakness for young women. His wife said she wasn't surprised that he was gone, and that his leaving town was really just a formality.

3. Who shot Paula?

Answer: Sheriff Arens

She was holding the floor supervisor at knifepoint and before Scully could get her to back down, Sheriff Arens shot her and her body fell into the vat of waste being processed for feed.

After freeing Scully, the agents raised his mask and saw that it was Sheriff Arens.
