Jack Bauer found Simone Al-Harazi on the train and tried unsuccessfully to avoid being spotted by her. Once she saw him, she slashed her leg with a knife and discreetly wiped blood on her face. Then as they both left the train, she screamed that Bauer was trying to kill her, in hopes that passengers would try to stop him.

It did cause enough of a diversion to allow her to get away from him.

Answer: They had been killed in an automobile accident.

Jack Bauer had lost sight of Simone Al-Harazi in the tube station and asked Chloe O'Brian to keep an eye out for her on the street. But O'Brian spotted a family walking by, and the man and boy reminded her of Morris and Preston, her husband and son. While she stared off into space, Al-Harazi slipped away.

When Bauer asked O'Brian why she was distracted, O'Brian told Bauer that her husband and son had been killed in a hit and run. O'Brian believed that she had been the actual target since she should have been driving the car at that time; she told Bauer that she felt she was targeted because she knew what happened to Bauer on the day that he disappeared.

Answer: Threatened to turn him over to a rival gang

Agent Kate Morgan had disregarded the order of her superior, Agent Steve Navarro, to quit interrogating Basher. Since police were on their way to the housing area where Basher lived, Morgan knocked Basher out, and with Agent Erik Ritter's help, drove off with him.

They drove into a tunnel, where several members of a rival gang were located, who were able to see Basher through the open window. Just as the gang members approached the car, Basher agreed to talk. Although he didn't know much, he did confirm that Derrick Yates had been working on a project involving drones and Lieutenant Tanner.

Answer: He didn't. He forged Heller's signature.

Mark Boudreau was determined to keep Jack Bauer away from his wife, Audrey Raines; he didn't want her to even hear Bauer's name. He also didn't want President Heller to know that Bauer was in London, so he ordered that Bauer be turned over to the Russians following the CIA interrogation.

But Ron Clark wasn't willing to do so with executive authorization, so he told Boudreau that he needed Heller's signature on the rendition form. Boudreau said he'd bring the form to Heller but instead, he signed it himself with Heller's name.

Answer: Cross deliberately botched the ID.

Apparently Adrian Cross was still bitter about the way Jack Bauer treated him when Bauer first burst into the Open Cell facility. Although he agreed to help Chloe O'Brian create the high-level ID to get Bauer into the embassy, Cross then went over to Chell's desk and modified the data so that the ID would fail. O'Brian alerted Bauer that the ID wasn't working, so Bauer went to Plan B, invented on the spur of the moment in usual Bauer style, which involved firing into the protesters in front of the embassy to get them to storm the building.

Answer: To upload the data from the flight key to O'Brian

Jack Bauer wanted to get the data on the flight key to prove that Lieutenant Tanner's drone had been hijacked. Realizing that he was trapped in the embassy, Bauer decided to upload the data to Chloe O'Brian who would be able to analyze it and hopefully get the proof that Bauer needed. Bauer planned to turn himself in as soon as the transmission was complete.

Answer: President Heller

Given the escalation of events since Jack Bauer's capture and escape from the CIA, White House Chief of Staff Mark Boudreau was forced to inform President Heller of Bauer's presence and actions in London. Heller wanted to talk to Bauer directly so a call was patched through to the Communications Room at the embassy. Bauer told Heller about the drone plot, and while both Heller and his daughter, Audrey, defended Bauer, Boudreau appeared to convince Heller that Bauer was using the terrorist drone plot as a smoke screen for his true intentions, which were to release classified information to the public.

Heller then gave the order to allow the marines to storm the room.

Answer: Agent Kate Morgan

Jack Bauer was holding three hostages in the Communications Room, which initially bought him a little time. But after he fired shots at marines outside of the room (after first confirming with Chloe O'Brian that they were wearing body armor, of course), the marine captain was ready to blast the room, shoot first and ask questions later. Kate Morgan had come to believe Bauer's story, so she decided to get into the room to talk him into surrendering before he was killed.

She crawled through the air duct and was nearly killed herself when Bauer shot at the vent.

But she convinced Bauer that she believed him, and he let her in.

Answer: She had Simone's finger cut off.

Naveed had cold feet about the operation; he didn't want to kill innocent people. He told Simone Al-Harazi that he was escaping that evening. She agreed to go with him but instead told her mother about his plan. Margot Al-Harazi said that she would get Naveed to agree to pilot the drones, and she did just that by having one of her henchman hold Simone down and chop off her finger.

As the man was about to chop off another, Naveed screamed that he would do what Margot wanted.

Answer: Agent Kate Morgan had captured Jack Bauer.

After entering the Communications Room through the air vent, Kate Morgan told Jack Bauer to give her the flight key; she would get the data uploaded since he didn't have enough time. She also talked him into surrendering to her so that the marines wouldn't kill him. When the marines blew the door open, they found Morgan had subdued Bauer.
