Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which city did most of the action in "24: Live Another Day" take place?

Answer: London

President James Heller was in London, England, to lobby for a treaty to keep U.S. drones at a British base. The treaty was unpopular so Heller wanted to speak with Parliament directly to gain support for it. Besides dealing with the unpopularity of the drone treaty, Heller was also dealing with Alzheimer's disease, the diagnosis of which was only known to a few members of his staff. Unbeknownst to Heller, he was being targeted by terrorists while in London, but lucky for him, Jack Bauer had heard about the plan and was there to help.

Unfortunately, Bauer was still a fugitive as the result of his activities on Day 8, so it took a bit of effort on his part to convince Heller and the authorities that the threat was real and that he was on their side.
2. Chloe O'Brian had turned goth since we last saw her on Day 8. What was her occupation at the beginning of "24: Live Another Day"?

Answer: Hacker

Chloe O'Brian first made her appearance in "24: Live Another Day" at a CIA "Special Activities" section where she was being tortured for information on the organization for which she worked, Open Cell. Open Cell was responsible for releasing thousands of classified documents (ala Wikileaks). O'Brian had joined up with the organization following the deaths of her husband and son, which she believed were caused by the U.S. Government; she thought that she had been the actual target, and they were killed by mistake. Jack Bauer needed her help to stop an attack on President Heller, so he managed to get himself picked up by the CIA and then escaped from the facility with O'Brian in tow.
3. Jack Bauer's former love, Audrey Raines, was one of the characters on "24: Live Another Day", although her last name was now Boudreau. To whom was she now married?

Answer: The White House Chief of Staff

Mark Boudreau was President Heller's Chief of Staff and was very protective of Heller and Audrey. When Jack Bauer was picked up by the CIA, Boudreau originally thought that Bauer was a threat to Heller, but he was also concerned about Bauer's effect on Audrey.

He arranged for Bauer to be quietly turned over to the Russians after Bauer's interrogation, telling White House staff member Ron Clark that he was determined to not let Audrey hear Bauer's name ever again. Boudreau forged Heller's signature on the documents ordering the rendition of Bauer over to the Russians, which resulted in his being arrested for treason.
4. CIA Agent Kate Morgan was the first to believe Jack Bauer's story on "24: Live Another Day", but she was being sent back home. Why was Morgan being reassigned?

Answer: Her husband had sold government secrets.

Kate Morgan thought that Jack Bauer's capture by the CIA had been a little too easy. She correctly determined that he had wanted to be captured to get to Chloe O'Brian, but her boss wouldn't listen to her because she was supposed to be packing up to move back to the U.S.

She had been reassigned because of questions regarding her late husband's activities; although she had been cleared of any involvement, her superiors wondered how she had been so unaware of his actions. But while she was packing, she couldn't help but listen to the operation involving Bauer, and when she finally convinced her boss to let her get involved, she came to believe Bauer's story and became his ally throughout the operation.
5. Who was Chloe O'Brian's boyfriend, the head of Open Cell, who had created the override device that caused all the problems on "24: Live Another Day"?

Answer: Adrian Cross

Adrian Cross was an exceptionally good hacker; even Chloe O'Brian had to ask for his assistance now and then. Cross had created the override device for what he believed to be noble reasons. He wanted to use it to expose the world's military vulnerabilities with the intent of making "technological warfare obsolete". Derek Yates stole the device and modified it so that it could be used to pilot US drones, but after the CIA recovered the device, Cross used his mole at the CIA to get the device back. Ultimately, Cross was killed for double-crossing the buyer who had paid him to build the device.
6. There were two terrorist plots on "24: Live Another Day", and the first involved Margot Al-Harazi and her children. How did Margot and Ian Al-Harazi meet their deaths?

Answer: Jack Bauer tossed them out a window.

Margot Al-Harazi wanted revenge for the death of her husband who was killed by a drone strike authorized by President Heller. Her children, Ian and Simone, were controlled by her, although Simone's loyalty started to waiver, which resulted in Margot ordering a drone strike on the hospital where Simone was being treated after being hit by a bus. Jack Bauer finally tracked them down to an office building.

He repelled down from the roof, grabbed Ian through the window and tossed him to his death. After subduing Margot to give him enough time to ditch the final drone that had been launched by the Al-Harazis, Bauer threw her out the window too.
7. There is always a mole on "24"! Who was the CIA mole on "24: Live Another Day"?

Answer: Station chief Steve Navarro

Steve Navarro was Kate Morgan's boss and friend. He had been supportive of her after her husband had been arrested for treason, but it turned out that he was the one who had actually sold government secrets and framed Morgan's husband. After CIA analyst Jordan Reed started to notice some discrepancies in the files that Morgan's husband had been working on, Navarro was forced to get rid of Reed to protect himself.

He had a CIA assassin kill Reed, and when Jack Bauer was able to trace the assassin back to Navarro, Navarro stole the drone override device and took off. Bauer finally caught up with him, but by that time, Navarro had handed off the device to Open Cell hacker Adrian Cross. Navarro had put a tracker on the override device and had planned to use that information to gain an immunity deal, but Bauer and Morgan tricked him into giving up the information. Morgan told him, there would be no immunity, and he would be executed for treason. And no, Tony Almeida did not make an appearance on "24: Live Another Day".
8. The second terrorist plot on "24: Live Another Day" involved an opponent from Jack Bauer's past. Which villain from Days 5 and 6 now was trying to instigate a war between the U.S. and China?

Answer: Cheng Zhi

Cheng Zhi had first appeared on Day 4, but he was merely a disgruntled Head of Security for the Chinese Consulate (disgruntled because Jack Bauer had raided the consulate and killed the Chinese Consul). On Days 5 and 6, he emerged as a villain, torturing Bauer and Audrey (Raines) Boudreau over an extended period of time. Cheng had been arrested by the Chinese government and was believed to have died in their custody, but somehow he had managed to escape and now wanted revenge.

He used the override device to force a U.S. submarine to attack a Chinese carrier in the hopes of igniting a war.

Not only did Bauer need to recover the override device, but he had to convince the Chinese that Cheng had been behind the attack, something that was tricky because the Chinese believed Cheng to be dead.

He soon was; after taping a facial and voice recognition of Cheng, Jack Bauer dispatched him by removing his head.
9. There was only one silent clock during "24: Live Another Day". For whom did it appear?

Answer: Audrey Boudreau

When President Heller appeared to die on the field at Wembley Stadium, die hard "24" fans were immediately suspicious because there wasn't a silent clock, the traditional "24" tribute to the death of a main character. Heller's death turned out to be a decoy due to some last minute computer wizardry by Chloe O'Brian.

But when Audrey Boudreau was shot by one of Cheng's henchman, it was the real thing. Boudreau's death was devastating to both Jack Bauer and to Kate Morgan, who had been assigned to protect her.

When Morgan called Bauer to give him the news, he looked as though he was about to commit suicide before he turned his sorrow into rage and single-handedly took out Cheng's crew.
10. At the end of "24: Live Another Day", where was Jack Bauer?

Answer: In a helicopter headed to Moscow

After saving the day, Jack Bauer and his cohort Belcheck went to pick up Chloe O'Brian, only to find that she had been taken hostage by the Russians, who were still bitter over the ending of Day 8. Bauer received a phone call, telling him what they wanted in exchange for O'Brian, and he agreed without hesitation.

It turned out that they wanted him. Belcheck drove him to the exchange point the following day (this was where the missing twelve hours occurred in the twelve episodes), where Bauer had a few tender words with O'Brian before turning himself over to the Russians.
