Something must have went awry after the tender ending of Day 8 when Jack Bauer thanked Chloe O'Brian for her help over the years. On Day 9, when Belcheck asked Bauer why he didn't just ask O'Brian to help him since they were friends, Bauer responded that he had no friends.

Not sure how that made Belcheck feel! So instead of asking for O'Brian's help, he followed her back to the Open Cell hideout and smacked her boss/boyfriend around to get their assistance. O'Brian responded with the above quote which made Bauer look a bit sheephish.

Kate Morgan made an impressive female Bauer and could certainly hold her own, but no matter what the odds, Jack Bauer was rarely at a disadvantage. The quote was made by Bauer to the burly drug dealer, Basher, and his bodyguards. They were sheltering hacker Derrick Yates, and they may have outnumbered Bauer, but within a few seconds, they were all lying on the ground.

Unfortunately, in the meantime,Yates was able to escape with the override device.

Answer: Open Cell hacker Adrian Cross

For some reason, Jack Bauer didn't think that Chloe O'Brian would voluntarily help him; he had told Belcheck that he had no friends. So he followed O'Brian to the Open Cell hideout, burst in and smacked Adrian Cross around to get his assistance. Cross was apparently still bitter about their first meeting so when Bauer came back to the Open Cell facility to get assistance in creating a fake ID to enter the U.S. embassy, Cross made the above comment to him. He did agree to help Bauer, but he then modified the ID so that it would fail when Bauer tried to use it.

After the ambush at the decoy house bombed by Margot Al-Harazi, President Heller called CIA station chief Steve Navarro and told him that Jack Bauer had a plan to find Al-Harazi but that Bauer would be operating "in the dark" without being tracked. Heller told Navarro to "give Jack Bauer whatever he needs, plus silence".

When Bauer asked to have Kate Morgan assigned to him, Navarro said that wasn't possible because she wasn't "on roster", as she was being transferred back to Langley. Heller ordered Navarro to "put her back in the field" with the above quote.

Jack Bauer had just tossed Ian Al-Harazi out of a window and managed to guide the last missile the Al-Harazis fired into the Thames. He had Margot Al-Harazi handcuffed. She screamed at him "Hundreds of people died today because of you and Heller. You think you won, but this is all on your heads". Bauer responded with the above quote before tossing Margot Al-Harazi out the window to her death. I suppose Bauer could have meant the plural "yours" because he had just killed Ian Al-Harazi. Of course, he'd killed a couple of the drug dealer Basher's henchmen and the weapons dealer Rask's henchmen earlier that day. Those didn't count.

After the attacks on the hospital and Wembley Stadium, people were rushing to get out of London. Prime Minister Davies was at the president's quarters in London with the president's staff. They had just watched the news clips of the missile attack at Wembley, and they next saw the news clip about the crowds evacuating the city. Davies made the quip just as Jack Bauer was calling to inform everyone that President Heller was safe.

Erik Ritter was the temporary station chief now that Steve Navarro was in custody, and he was preparing to send Navarro to Special Activities for interrogation. Jack Bauer told Ritter that they (the CIA) wouldn't be able to get a response from Navarro because he viewed them as subordinates and because he had been in covert operations and had been trained to resist interrogation. Bauer said that Navarro knew his (Bauer's) history and that he would be more effective at interrogating Navarro. Ritter agreed to this but told Bauer that he needed to abide by the rules which drew the above response from Bauer.

Steve Navarro was being interrogated by Jack Bauer while acting station chief Erik Ritter and agent Kate Morgan watched. Navarro told Bauer that he knew how Bauer could find Adrian Cross and the override device, but he wanted full immunity. Bauer told him, "I'm going to ask you one last time nicely. Where's the override device?" to which Navarro responded that Bauer was wasting time "tick tock" because Ritter would not allow Bauer to torture him. Bauer assured Navarro that the immunity deal wasn't going to happen with the above quote before smashing Navarro's hand with the butt of his gun and beating up Navarro.

Answer: Chinese renegade Cheng Zhi

Cheng Zhi and his men ambushed Chloe O'Brian and Adrian Cross at the Open Cell facility. Cross had been working with Cheng under the assumption that Cheng represented the Chinese government. O'Brian knew better; she knew Cheng from his days when he was the security chief at the Chinese embassy in Los Angeles, and she knew he had been arrested by the Chinese government and was supposed to be in prison. Cheng remembered O'Brian,"Miss O'Brian, you are a long way from home". After he killed Cross, Cheng told his men they were taking O'Brian with them with the above quote.

As Audrey Boudreau's body was being loaded onto Air Force One, Prime Minister Davies gave President Heller his "deepest sympathies". Heller thanked him and told him that the day before he had left for London, he had been staring at a picture on his desk of a beautiful woman, and he couldn't remember who the woman was. Then he suddenly realized that it was Audrey. Heller says that he won't remember anything that happened that day or at all - "I won't remember that I had a daughter that died in such a horrible fashion."
