Answer: Scully's sister, Melissa

Mulder arrived at the hospital and first lashed into the doctor, wanting to know how Scully got there and what was wrong with her. The doctor admitted that no one knew how she arrived there and that she was in a coma. When Mulder returned to Scully's bedside, he met Scully's sister, Melissa, for the first time. Melissa was a new-age free spirit, and she had brought a crystal to help Scully.

She told Mulder that she was in contact with Scully's soul, and that "Dana was choosing whether to remain or move on". Melissa was portrayed by Melinda McGraw, who may be better known to "NCIS" fans as Diane Sterling, ex-wife of Gibbs and Fornell.

Answer: Frohike

Frohike cleaned up nice! He appeared to be wearing a black suit with a white shirt and red pocket handkerchief; it almost looked like a tuxedo, and he was carrying a bouquet of flowers. Mulder was on the phone at the nurse's station when he heard someone ask the nurse for Dana Scully. He turned around and with a look of disbelief asked, "Frohike?"

Answer: The Lone Gunmen

While visiting Scully, Frohike took a peek at Scully's medical file and told Mulder he noticed something odd. He snuck the file out in his pants to take it to his Lone Gunmen brethren. The Lone Gunmen noticed that there were "abnormal protein chains" in her blood, and they shared the file with a new member called "The Thinker".

The Thinker reported that "the protein chains were the byproduct of branched DNA", which Byers explained was the "biological equivalent of a silicon microchip". When Mulder asked what it could be used for, the Lone Gunmen suggested that it might be a tracking system or a biological marker.

But Byers determined that the "branched DNA was inactive" and wasn't being used anymore. He gave Mulder the bad news that Scully's immune system was shot and probably wouldn't be able to recover.

Answer: Sitting in a boat on a lake

Scully was sitting in a boat on a lake, and the boat was tethered to a dock where the people who spoke to her were standing. Melissa told Mulder that Scully could hear them. Nurse Owens also spoke to Scully and told her she was there to help her "find the way home".

When Scully was removed from the respirator, the rope tethering the boat to the dock snapped. Later Scully saw herself lying on a table, first in a room with her father and later in a forest. The forest gradually turned into the hospital room as she regained consciousness.

Answer: A vial of her blood

While Mulder was with Scully, a nurse came in to take Scully's blood, but then the patient next to her coded, so the nurse put the vial of blood down and went to the other patient. Mulder had seen the vial of blood, but he was distracted by the commotion with the other patient. When he looked back at the table, the vial of blood was gone and so was the man.

Answer: X killed him.

After the man stole the vial of Scully's blood, Mulder chased him into the parking garage, but X appeared, grabbed Mulder and held him at gunpoint. He wanted Mulder to quit searching for the people who put Scully in the hospital: "Walk away. Grieve for Scully and then never look back".

But Mulder got away and cornered the man in the hospital laundry. Mulder took the vial of blood from him, but as he was escorting the man from the laundry, the man attacked him, knocking him and the vial to the ground.

Then X caught up with them and executed the man.

Answer: Cigarette Smoking Man's address

The woman asked Mulder if he had change for the cigarette machine and then said there was a pack already in the dispenser: "Morleys. Not my brand". Morley was the brand that the Cigarette Smoking Man (CSM) smoked, so after she walked away, Mulder opened the pack and found a slip of paper with an address written on it.

The address turned out to be the CSM's home. When Mulder asked him "Why her and not me?", meaning Scully, CSM responded "I like you". After his visit to CSM, Mulder signed a letter of resignation for Skinner, but Skinner tore it up; he wouldn't let Mulder resign. Mulder then figured out that Skinner had been the one to give him the address.

Answer: Scully's sister Melissa

When Mulder was leaving the FBI building after turning in his resignation to Skinner, he ran into X who gave him a plane ticket. He told Mulder that the men who took Scully would be searching his apartment that night because they believed he would be out of town and because they thought he had information about Scully's abduction. X told Mulder to wait for the men and "defend yourself with terminal intensity".

He told Mulder it was the only way because "the law will not punish these people". Mulder waited for the men that night, but Melissa Scully arrived first and told him that Dana was weakening so she didn't have long to live. Melissa guessed that Mulder was plotting revenge and tried to talk him out of it, and although he sent her away, her words must have worked because he went to the hospital to be with Scully.

When he returned home, his apartment was trashed.

Answer: A video of "Superstars of the Super Bowls"

When Mulder arrived, he was greeted by Mrs. Scully, who said, "Hello Fox". Dana Scully objected: "Not Fox... Mulder!" When Mulder asked Scully how she was feeling, she told him that she didn't remember anything about her ordeal. Mulder then gave her a present, a video of "Superstars of the Super Bowls". "I knew there was a reason to live", responded Scully.

He had the video in a bag, so he may have actually bought it for her at the gift shop -- a typically quirky Mulder gift.

Answer: There was no one there with that name.

Nurse Owens was the nurse that we had seen throughout the episode talking to Scully while she was unconscious, and she was one of the people who was on the dock when Scully saw herself in the boat on the lake. Scully told Nurse Wilkins that she wanted to talk to Nurse Owens because "she watched over me in intensive care and I'd like to thank her". Nurse Wilkins told Scully that she had worked there "for ten years and there's no Nurse Owens at this hospital".
