In the final scene of the first hour, Nurse Benson went to see Peter, Amanda and Michael in the boiler room and she told them how she started to believe that Kimberly was crazy herself. She also said that Kimberly planned to have all three of them lobotomized. Peter insisted that Nurse Benson let them out of the boiler room so that could not happen so she opened the door and freed them.

As soon as she did, Kimberly entered the boiler room and scolded Nurse Benson for betraying her so Nurse Benson insisted that she was just checking on them. Michael then spoke to Kimberly and told her she needed to let Peter and Amanda go but Kimberly told him to step back, which Michael did.

Then, there was a scuffle involving Michael, Kimberly and an orderly and it resulted in both the orderly and Kimberly going over a railing. Michael screamed in terror as he saw Kimberly lying unconscious.
