Though Ethan Rayne was a ghost from Rupert Giles' past, their association predated Giles' years as a Watcher. Gwendolyn Post was fired for practicing dark arts before she posed as Faith's new Watcher in season 3 of "BTVS." Rutherford Sirk left the Watcher profession to pursue a career at Wolfram & Hart, and makes multiple appearances on "Angel." Wesley Wyndam-Pryce loses his job as a Watcher after his failure in Sunnydale in "BTVS" season 3, but found his true home in Los Angeles, fighting by Angel's side (most of the time!).

While filming a potential television commercial for Angel Investigations, Doyle is confused by a misspelled cue card courtesy of Cordelia and declares the above. Obviously, he meant to claim that their "rates" were low. Doyle dies shortly after this comical commercial shoot, and the video is later replayed by a wistful Angel and Cordelia.

Darla was originally sired by the Master, and then staked by Angel in "BTVS" season 1. After being resurrected by Wolfram & Hart, Darla begged Angel to re-sire her, but Angel refused. Drusilla ended up returning to be her grandmother's "mummy," as she so oddly put it.

In "BTVS" Season 1, Buffy takes Owen on a disastrous date, involving a funeral home and a cowboy super-vamp. Though Owen turns out to be all for vampire-slaying adventures, Buffy ends the relationship before Owen can get himself killed. But, she does kiss him before leaving him in the Bronze to go investigate the funeral home with Angel, Xander and Willow.

Jesse McNally was Xander's friend that was turned in the series premiere, "Welcome to the Hellmouth." The irrepressible Harmony Kendall was turned during the battle with the mayor in "Graduation Day." In "Conversations With Dead People," Holden Webster [played by Jonathan M. Woodward, who also played Knox on Angel] mentions that he and Buffy were in the same class at SHS-- though he wasn't actually turned until season 7.

The terminally ill Billy Fordham got his wish and was sired (presumably by Spike) in season 2's "Lie To Me," but he only posed as a student at Sunnydale High, and was never actually enrolled.

Dennis is the ghost who haunts Cordelia's L.A. apartment, first "seen" in "Angel" season 1, "Rm w/a Vu." Though the ghost of Dennis' mother makes things difficult for them at first, after she's expelled by Angel Investigations, Dennis and Cordelia become good friends. Though vampire Harmony visits with Cordelia briefly in L.A., they never become roommates. Cordelia opts not to move in with Doyle during her search for a new apartment, instead spending a few days irritating Angel.

She never lives with Xander during their high school fling.

Cassie Newton is a classmate of Dawn's who, despite accurately predicting her own death, is entirely human. Her image is later used by the First Evil in an attempt to deceive Willow. Riley's friend Forrest Gates was infused with demon parts by the Frankenstein-esque Adam, effectively stripping him of his humanity. Cordelia Chase was made part-demon in an effort to manage her visions on season 3 of Angel. Kathy Newman was Buffy's first college roommate on "BTVS" season 4, and was outed as a closet demon in "Living Conditions."

In "BTVS" season 3's "Bad Girls," Mr. Trick states that "Marmaduke" is his favorite comic, because "Nobody can tell Marmaduke what to do. That's my kinda dog." Mayor Richard Wilkins (hilariously) enjoys "Family Circus." Deputy Mayor Allan Finch confesses to being a "Cathy" fan-- I suppose there's no accounting for taste. Poor "Garfield" is no one's favorite.

We see both Spike and Angel in New York City, but never at the same time. Spike kills his second slayer on a subway in the city in 1977, and we see Angel in 1996 in the NYC alleys, eating rats, when Whistler advises him to move to Sunnydale to watch over Buffy.

In season 5 of "Angel," the ensouled Spike and Angel visit The Cotswolds in their attempt to stop Illyria from taking over Fred's body, and they visit Rome to try to find Buffy. In the episode "Why We Fight," we see Angel (in his brief stint as a spy for the US during WWII) encounter Spike on a German U-Boat.
