Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 119 North Weatherly, Minneapolis, MN

Answer: The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Mary Richards was a single 30-something woman living at 119 North Weatherly in Minneapolis, Minnesota on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". The creators of the show, i.e., James L. Brooks and Allan Burns deliberately made Mary single because, if she were divorced, they were afraid everyone would think she split from Rob Petrie.

Instead they showed that a single woman doesn't need a man to be happy. The comedy aired from 1970 to 1977 and helped spur the feminist movement.
2. 1049 Park Avenue, New York, NY

Answer: The Odd Couple

In 1968, Neil Simon's play "The Odd Couple" hit the big screen with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. In 1970, "The Odd Couple" became a hit television comedy which aired through 1975. After their divorces, Felix Unger and Oscar Madison shared a NYC apartment at 1049 Park Avenue, NY.

Their high-end jobs as photographer and sports writer, respectively, allowed them to live at the pricey address. The TV roles were played by Tony Randall and Jack Klugman.
3. Elliott Bay Towers, Seattle, WA

Answer: Frasier

Psychiatrist Frasier Crane moved from Boston, MA to Seattle, WA, from "Cheers" to "Frasier". Never one to skimp on his surroundings, Frasier bought a luxury condo in the tony Elliott Bay Towers. The floor plan shows three bedrooms, three baths and a spectacular view of the Space Needle and the Seattle skyline. With the lighting, the music and the view, the apartment was an additional aphrodisiac for his many dates. "Frasier" starred Kelsey Grammer, and ran from 1993 to 2004.
4. 416 Cherry Street, Langley Falls, VA

Answer: American Dad

CIA Agent Stan Smith, his wife Francine, their kids, Steve and Haley, their German fish Klaus and their alien Roger, all live at 416 Cherry Street, in Langley, VA. On the animated sitcom, Stan is politically conservative and believes in traditional values and that a man is 'king of his castle'. "American Dad" first began airing in 2005, with Seth MacFarlane (from "Family Guy") as the voice of Stan.
5. 148 Bonnie Meadow Road, New Rochelle, NY

Answer: The Dick Van Dyke Show

Going back to the 1960s, we have comedy writer Rob Petrie, his wife Laura and their son Ritchie living in the New York suburb of New Rochelle at 148 Bonnie Meadow Road. "The Dick Van Dyke Show" was created by Carl Reiner (who played Alan Brady) and ran from 1961 to 1966. Rob and Laura were played by Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, and the good-natured comedy still holds up today.
6. 173 Essex Drive, Denver, CO

Answer: Dynasty

I thought the fact that the address was in Denver might give the answer away. "Dynasty", the night-time soap opera and paean to the luxury and gluttony of the 1980s, was set at 173 Essex Drive, in Denver, CO. It pitted two oil rich families, i.e., the Carringtons and the Colbys, against each other, sort of an upscale Hatfield vs. McCoy. Appropriately, the show ran from 1981 to 1989.

It starred John Forsythe ("Charlie"), Linda Evans and Joan Collins.
7. 320 Fowler Street, Lynbrook, NY

Answer: Everybody Loves Raymond

The Barone family lives at 320 Fowler Street in the suburb of Lynbrook, NY, right across the street from...the Barones. If you ever watched "Everybody Loves Raymond", you know that sportswriter Ray Barone lives with his wife Debra and his three kids. They also happen to live right across the street from Ray's parents, Frank and Marie.

This wonderful sitcom ran from 1996 to 2005, with a great cast including Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle.
8. 900 Park Avenue (& 79th Street), New York, NY

Answer: Diff'rent Strokes

I've brought you back to Manhattan to the fancy address at 900 Park Avenue & 79th Street, New York, NY. The address is the home of widowed millionaire Phillip Drummond, his daughter Kimberly and his adopted sons, Arnold and Willis Jackson. They all co-existed on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes", where you could be sure to hear "Whatcha talkin bout Willis?" every single episode.

The show aired from 1978 to 1986, with Gary Coleman as Arnold.
9. 328 Chauncey Street, Brooklyn, NY

Answer: The Honeymooners

Early television..."how sweet it was"! It was 1955 when live TV gave us NYC bus driver Ralph Kramden, his wife Alice, and their neighbors, Norton and Trixie, all living at 328 Chauncey Street in Brooklyn, NY. Although "The Honeymooners' ran from 1955 through 1956, with only 39 episodes, it was a pioneer, leaving a deep imprint in the history of TV, and with repercussions to this very day. Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows and Art Carney made it all seem real.
10. 780 Knapp Street, Milwaukee, WI

Answer: Laverne and Shirley

Several shows were based in Wisconsin, including "Happy Days" where the Cunninghams lived at 565 North Clinton Drive, Milwaukee, WI. However, the Knapp Street basement was where the protagonists from "Laverne and Shirley" lived. The show, a spin-off of "Happy Days", was set in the 1950s, a simpler time where the biggest fear was not having a date. Created by Gary Marshall, the sitcom ran from 1976 to 1983, starring Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams as the bottle cappers.
11. 518 Crestview Drive, Beverly Hills, CA

Answer: The Beverly Hillbillies

"Then one day he was shootin at some food, and up from the ground come a bubblin crude." Yes, Jed Clampett discovered oil and moved from the Ozarks with his kinfolk to California, more specifically to 518 Crestview Drive, Beverly Hills, CA. "The Beverly Hillbillies" starred Buddy Ebsen (later "Barnaby Jones") and aired from 1962 to 1971.

The sitcom rose to the top spot in the TV ratings within three weeks after its debut.
12. 1630 Revello Drive, Sunnydale, CA

Answer: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Did Sunnydale give the correct answer away? 1630 Revello Drive, Sunnydale, CA was the home address of Buffy Summers, where she fought vampires, demons and all manner of infernal creatures. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as "the chosen one". Buffy fought the forces of darkness with the help of her evil-fighting friends "The Scooby Gang".

The show ran from 1997 to 2003.
13. 9114 South Central, Watts, Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Sanford and Son

If you're old enough to remember the Watts riots of 1965, you may have figured out that Fred Sanford's junk dealership on "Sanford and Son" was set at 9114 South Central, Watts, Los Angeles, CA. The sitcom featured comedian Red Foxx (1922-1991) whose birth name was John Sanford.

The Norman Lear series gave us Fred as a curmudgeonly, widowed black man who worked with his son, Lamont, and fought with everyone. The show was on from 1972 to 1977.
14. 711 Coldwell Street, Apt. 209, Chicago, IL

Answer: Perfect Strangers

Easy-going Balki Bartokomous was a sheep farmer from Mypos who came to America to live with Larry Appleton, his uptight American cousin, at 711 Coldwell Street, Apt. 209, Chicago, IL. Bronson Pinchot and Mark-Linn Baker star as the mismatched couple on "Perfect Strangers".

Their temperaments couldn't be more different but they learn to live with the disparities and grow from them. The comedy aired from 1986 to 1993.
15. 698 Candlewood Lane, Cabot Cove, ME

Answer: Murder, She Wrote

I couldn't leave out one of my favorite crime solvers, i.e., Jessica (J.B.) Fletcher from "Murder, She Wrote". Former English teacher and writer J.B. Fletcher lived at 698 Candlewood Lane, Cabot Cove, Maine (near Castle Rock, I wonder?), when she wasn't traveling around the world to promote her books, and solving murders in every venue. Jessica was played to perfection by the wonderful Dame Angela Lansbury.

The mystery series ran from 1984 to 1996.
