Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nestled in the heart of Connecticut, this quirky small town served as the perfect home for a single mother and her teen daughter. Which community featured in "Gilmore Girls" was founded by star-crossed lovers, showcased war re-enactments and hosted 24-hour dance-a-thons?

Answer: Stars Hollow

If you visit, be sure to stop by Luke's Diner which is known to have the best coffee in town. The Founder's Day Firelight Festival is held annually in March and brings out the romance and fun in everybody. The gazebo in the center of town is perfect for weddings, and you can stay at The Dragonfly Inn.

"Gilmore Girls" is a comedy-drama which originally aired on WB from 2000-2007. It stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as the title protagonists, Lorelai and Rory.
2. As the setting for "Weeds" in its first three seasons, which gated suburb features a facade of perfect people in perfect houses but is covering up a drug trade that runs throughout the town?

Answer: Agrestic, California

Unfortunately, you can't visit Agrestic. With its criminal activities most likely catching up to it, Agrestic mysteriously burned down in the season 3 finale.

"Weeds" is a dark comedy-drama that originally aired on Showtime from 2005-2012. It stars Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin, a widowed mother of two (eventually three) boys who becomes a pot dealer.
3. In "Hart of Dixie", young doctor Zoe Hart leaves New York for which small, Gulf Coast town - a close-knit community offering the best in southern-style living?

Answer: Bluebell, Alabama

Bluebell is located in the heart of Alabama, 30 miles from Mobile. It's an old-fashioned community with locally-owned stores and lots of unique events. The most popular event is the Founder's Day Parade, but the Strawberry Festival in May is also nice.

"Hart of Dixie" is a romance comedy-drama that originally aired from 2011-2015. It stars Rachel Bilson as Zoe Hart, who moves to Bluebell and tries to fit in the with the quirky residents.
4. A small picturesque coastal town, where did the kids of "Dawson's Creek" go to school, work after school, fall in love and fall out of love?

Answer: Capeside, Massachusetts

You'll actually have to go to Wilmington, North Carolina to visit Capeside since that's where it was shot. But Capeside is the fictional small town located on Cape Cod in between the larger cities of Providence, Rhode Island and Boston, Massachusetts.

"Dawson's Creek" is a teen drama starring James Van Der Beek as the titular Dawson alongside Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson as four friends who navigate adolescence.
5. Which city with a colorful history has an active (if not completely functional) Parks and Recreation department and idiosyncratic local government?

Answer: Pawnee, Indiana

Before visiting, I would recommend picking up the book "Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America" by Leslie Knope which should fill you in on all the interesting and bizarre facts about the city. City Hall will probably the focal point of your visit - it's a beautiful building, but with some inept activities going on inside. You may or may not want to, but you should check out The Snakehole Lounge a sleazy nightclub, and then order waffles at JJ's Diner.

"Parks and Recreation" is a sit-com about the parks and recreation department within a city government and stars Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, the deputy director. It originally aired on NBC from 2009-2015.
6. Which California city is situated on an actual Hellmouth and provides Buffy Summers many opportunities for vampire slaying?

Answer: Sunnydale

Sunnydale is an isolated city which resembles any comfortable California town. Unfortunately, there is a Hellmouth located directly beneath Sunnydale High School - a subterranean area that is the mouth of hell, and attracts supernatural evil beings. There's plenty to see and do in Sunnydale including the Pacific Ocean, a zoo, a college and a museum, but I would stay away from the cemeteries at night.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is an action drama that stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as the chosen one, a high school girl that has to save the word and fight evil.
7. Further down the Californian coast in between San Diego and Los Angeles, this town might not be an actual Hellmouth, but it features an endless battle between the haves and the have-nots. Which town serves as the hometown of Veronica Mars with lots of rapes and murders for her to solve?

Answer: Neptune

You might not want to visit Neptune, California. With an inept Sheriff's department, crime runs rampant and it all comes down to one teenage girl to solve everything. But it should have great surfing and shopping to occupy the rich kids of Hollywood's elite.

"Veronica Mars" is a drama/mystery/dark comedy that aired on WB/CW and stars Kristen Bell is the titular heroine, a teenage private detective.
8. Representing the quintessential 'small town, USA', which town is the home of Superman's younger self Clark Kent?

Answer: Smallville, Kansas

Smallville, is a small rural town in Kansas. It's a humble community that was very proud of its status as the Creamed Corn Capital of the World. A meteor hit the town in 1989 causing lots of destruction and unexplainable events. Another meteor shower hit in 2005, and future Superman, Clark Kent, had to save the town from disasters. Kids go to Smallville High School, the town hosts an annual Harvest Festival, and the local Creekside Foundry is great for finding meteor rocks or just being in the middle of mysterious situations.

"Smallville" is a science fiction drama starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent who has to navigate high school as well as discovering that he's an alien and has super-human abilities. It originally aired on the WB/CW from 2001-2011.
9. Which remote Alaskan town serves as the focal-point for the fish-out-of-water story in "Northern Exposure"?

Answer: Cicely

Cicely, Alaska is a remote and isolated town in Alaska that Dr. Joel Fleischman is transferred to, in order to pay for medical school. It's filled with quirky townsfolk you'll want to meet like Maurice Minnifield an entrepreneur who owns the local newspaper and radio station, and sexy Maggie O'Connell - an Alaskan bush pilot. The Brick is the local bar and restaurant, but nothing compares to the majestic mountains in the background.

"Northern Exposure" is a comedy-drama starring Rob Morrow as Dr. Joel Fleischman - the big city guy in a small town. It originally aired on CBS from 1990-1995.
10. Which suburb seems like hell to a girl from New York City in "Suburgatory"?

Answer: Chatswin, New York

Chatswin is an affluent, upper-middle class suburban community. Houses are big, lawns are perfectly manicured and every fence is white and picket. The more cynical visitors will view everyone and everything as fake. But most residents are nice, and you'll be encouraged to visit the local country club.

"Suburgatory" is a sitcom that stars Jane Levy as Tessa Altmann, a cynical and sarcastic teenager, and Jeremy Sisto as her single father George who move to Chatswin from New York City. It originally aired on ABC from 2011-2014.
