Oliver is taken aback by the mention of Christmas and tells Diggle that he didn't even realize it was Christmas. Diggle says it's probably because he's been too focused on being the Arrow since his fallout with Helena to notice. Oliver seems annoyed by that comment and clarifies for Diggle that it's actually because on the island he didn't have Christmas, or any holiday, because in order to survive each day he had to forget things like Christmas.

Thea smiles as she remembers also and reminds Oliver that she also used to win every time, to which Oliver replies it was because she would always cheat. Oliver brought the topic up when he walked into the house and wondered why there weren't any Christmas decorations up.

Oliver has pulled out his overprotective brother card and tells Thea that he has a feeling he's not going to be a fan of the guy. Thea gets angry and exclaims that Oliver doesn't even know the guy and requests a change of subject.

Oliver was dismayed to find out that they all stopped celebrating Christmas after the yacht sank. Since he feels like he's the reason they stopped celebrating Christmas, he explains that he should also be the reason that they start celebrating it again.

Edward Fyers explained to Oliver that the island was used by the Chinese as part of a program to hold criminals that were deemed so dangerous that they couldn't be safely incarcerated on the main land. Edward further explains that he and his team were called in to dispose of all the prisoners when the program ended. He tells Oliver all but two prisoners were captured and killed.

Oliver came to Felicity with a lie about a friend named Steve who was really into archery. He told Felicity that he wanted to buy "Steve" some arrows for his birthday and asked Felicity to help him track where the arrows were made and purchased from.

Oliver was slightly injured when jumping away from the exploding trap that was set up for him at the warehouse address that Felicity gave him as the origin of the dark archer's arrows. After Diggle notices the limp and asks if Oliver really wants to do the party thing, Oliver explains that his family needed the party, and as a result, so did he.

The dark archer has taken hostages and rigged a building with explosives to get Oliver/Arrow's attention. After the Arrow saves the hostages, he confronts the dark archer who explains to the Arrow that he knew it would take something big to draw him out.

When the Arrow asks the dark archer what he wants with him, the dark archer says he wants what every archer wants, to see who is better.

Walter comments that it was a good thing he was wearing his helmet. The statement leaves Oliver confused for a moment until Diggle explains that he told the family about the semi-truck that pulled in front of his motorcycle. Oliver nods, understanding the lie that Diggle made up for him. Thea tells Oliver that he looks terrible and Moira asks why he even left the party in the first place. Oliver says it was because of the argument he had with Thea during which she yelled at him that his timing for the Christmas party wasn't the best.
