Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Batman's other identity?

Answer: Bruce Wayne

Bruce Wayne is a billionare industrialist whose parents were shot, and killed by a mugger right in front of him as a child. Because of this, Bruce decided to devote his wealth and his life to fighting crime as Batman, Gotham City's dark knight.

The voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman was done by actor Kevin Conroy, who has gone on to voice both Bruce Wayne/Batman in other DC comic universe cartoons, including "Justice League", "Superman: The Animated Series" (the episode "World's Finest" Parts 1/2), the movie "Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm", and the video game "Batman: Arkham Asylum".
2. Which villian was actually a friend of Bruce Wayne's?

Answer: Two-Face

On "Batman: The Animated Series", District Attorney Harvey Dent was Bruce Wayne's friend who was blackmailed by Rupert Thorne. Dent suffered from holding in his anger since childhood, causing him to develop a split personality-Harvey Dent, and "Big Bad Harv". During a battle with Rupert Thorne and his thugs, an explosion caused by a live wire falling into a vat of chemicals scarred half of Dent's body and damaged his mind, causing "Big Bad Harv" to take over Dent's persona. He began referring to himself as Two-Face.

Two-Face was voiced by Richard Moll, who is best known for his role as Bull Shannon, the towering baliff on the 80's NBC TV series "Night Court".
3. In the episode "Almost Got Him", who saved Batman from the Joker's trap?

Answer: Catwoman

The Joker captured Batman, and (in front of a live TV audience) had him strapped to a laughter-activated electric chair. The Joker filled the studio with laughing gas, causing anyone exposed to it to laugh at anything, even the listings in the telephone book.

Catwoman saved Batman from the electric chair, but ended up getting captured by the Joker (with a little assistance from Harley Quinn). Batman (disguised as Killer Croc) discovered that the Joker had her tied to a grinder at a cat food factory, while playing cards with him, the Penguin, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy, who each told a story about how they almost trapped and captured Batman.

After Batman rescued Catwoman, she asked him if there will ever be a world where they can live in without masks, or psychotic villians. Batman says "maybe", and then swings off into the night's sky.

Catwoman's response was "Almost got him!" (which was the title of this particular episode).
4. What is the Riddler's real name?

Answer: Edward Nygma

In the episode "If Your So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" the Riddler kidnapped his boss for stealing his idea, a game called "The Riddle Of the Minotaur". Batman figured out that Edward Nygma was behind the kidnapping because his name shortened is E. Nygma (a play on the word "enigma", which means a puzzle, or a riddle).

The Riddler was voiced by John Glover, who is best known for his role as Lionel Luthor on the TV series "Smallville".
5. What was the name of the TV superhero who was the inspiration for Batman?

Answer: The Grey Ghost

Bruce Wayne watched "The Grey Ghost" when he was a kid. The man who played the Grey Ghost, named Simon Trent, was now an older, disgruntled, out-of-work actor, primarily because of being typecasted as the Grey Ghost. Batman asked Simon Trent for help when Gotham City was plagued by a mad bomber who used exploding, remote controlled toy cars, which was right out of an episode of "The Grey Ghost".

At first, Trent turned Batman down, angry over the Grey Ghost character. Disgusted, Batman told Trent that the Grey Ghost was his hero as a child. When Batman was trapped by a few toy cars, Simon Trent, dressed as the Grey Ghost saves him just in the nick of time. Batman took Simon Trent to the Bat-Cave, which was modeled after the Grey Ghost's lair from the TV show, and showed him some Grey Ghost memorabilia that Bruce had collected over the years.

Simon Trent/The Grey Ghost was voiced by Adam West, who (ironically) played Bruce Wayne/Batman on the 60's TV series "Batman".
6. What was the name of Bruce Wayne's butler?

Answer: Alfred

Alfred Pennyworth was Bruce Wayne's butler, and had been Bruce's surrogate father figure ever since the death of Bruce's parents. Alfred was also a former spy, and soldier, though he didn't see much action in the field, except for one time where he flew the Bat-Wing to help rescue an amnesiac Bruce Wayne from a corrupt prison warden.

The voice of Alfred was portrayed by veteran actor Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., who was also the voice of Dr. Octopus on the 90's cartoon "Spider-Man: The Animated Series".
7. Who did Rupert Thorne hire to kill Batman?

Answer: Bane

Rupert Thorne hired Bane to defeat, and destroy Batman. Bane kidnapped Robin to use him as bait to trap Batman on a ship. During their battle, Bane had the physical edge over Batman, and was about to break Batman's back over his leg(a scene similar to a "Batman" comic where Bane did exactly that), when Batman used a Batarang to damage the device that pumps Venom (a chemical that caused Bane's muscles to grow bigger, and give him superhuman strength) into him, by causing the device to overload Bane's body.

Batman took a defeated Bane back to Rupert Thorne, and revealed a recording of his assistant Candice conspiring with Bane to eliminate not only Batman, but also Thorne as well. Batman called it "better luck next time".

Rupert Thorne was voiced by John Vernon, who was also the voice of Dr. Strange on an episode of "Spider-Man: The Animated Series", and known for such movies as "National Lampoon's Animal House", and the 80's comedy "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka". Sadly, John Vernon passed away in February of 2005.
8. On Batman: The Animated Series, who was the voice of the Joker?

Answer: Mark Hamill

Mark Hamill's other credits include the Trickster on the short-lived CBS TV show "The Flash", and also as the Gargoyle on the animated "Incredible Hulk" series. However, Mark Hamill is best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the first "Star Wars" trilogy.

Kevin Michael Richardson was the voice of the Joker on the cartoon series "The Batman".

Willie Aames co-starred on a TV show that Mark Hamill once made an apperance on "Eight Is Enough".

Donald "Donny" Most is best know for his role as Ralph Malph on the classic ABC TV series "Happy Days".
9. What was Harley Quinn's real name?

Answer: Harleen Quinzel

Dr. Harleen Quinzel was a psychologist who worked at Arkham Asylum, and fell so hard for the Joker that he became the love of her life, and she became his partner-in-crime, Harley Quinn. Her love for him is a very warped take on the Florence Nightingale effect, when a nurse(or in this case: doctor)falls in love with her patient.

-In the comic books, Cassandra Cain became Batgirl.
-Dr. Leslie Thompkins was the doctor who comforted a young Bruce Wayne on the night that his parents were murdered.
-Dr. Francine Langstrom was married to Dr. Kirk Langstrom, who invented a serum that transformed him into the Man-Bat, and after her father accidentally exposed her to a new form of the serum that he created, she transformed into a She-Bat.
10. Which one of Batman's enemies was considered immortal?

Answer: Ra's Al Ghul

Ra's Al Ghul was over 600 years old, and was considered to be one of the most dangerous (if not the most dangerous) of Batman's foes. Ra's Al Ghul was a global terrorist whose madness was fueled by the Lazarus Pit, a pool of chemicals that restore the body, but drives the one who uses it to total madness. Ra's daughter, Talia, was often torn between loyalty to her father, and her undying love for Bruce Wayne and Batman.

What made Ra's even more dangerous was the fact that he knew that Bruce Wayne and Batman were one and the same.
