Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which character was often nicknamed "The Reluctant Hero" by critics and went on to become a more popular character than Blake himself?

Answer: Avon

Paul Darrow played this part very well. When Blake left the ship I wondered why they didn't call the show "Avon's 7".
2. Blake and Jenna married and started a family.

Answer: False

As a matter of fact, after they left The Liberator they worked together as smugglers. Blake mentions to Tarrant in the final episode that Jenna was shot down on some smuggling run but he did not say they were married or had children.

As it happens, he did NOT say they did not marry and have children, but I'm sure we would have been told if that were so.
3. What was the name of Blake's arch-enemy who originally was supposed to dispose of Blake before the series began?

Answer: Travis

In the fight that ensued, Blake actually fired a lucky shot at Travis which cost him his hand and his eye. Later on when Blake became a wanted fugitive Travis was assigned to "seek, locate and destroy". They knew Travis had a reliable ulterior motive for wanting to eliminate Blake!
4. What was the planet The Federation used as a penal colony where Blake and his friends-to-be were sentenced?

Answer: Cyngus Alpha

En Route to Cygnus Alpha the prison starship came across an abandoned alien spacecraft. Blake and his fellow convicts Jenna Staniss and Kerr Avon were sent aboard by the captain to see if there was anything worth salvaging. And they ended up staying aboard the ship after the prison barge left, and later using it to free some of the other prisoners from Cygnus Alpha.

They christened the ship "The Liberator".
5. Which one of the following members of the various "Blake's 7" teams never actually met Blake himself?

Answer: Slave

Slave was the serviant computer controlling the team's second ship "Scorpio". Slave died after the ship crash-landed with Tarrant at the controls, surprisingly saying as its last words "...goodbye... Tarrant..." (it always called everyone "Master" beforehand).

Soon afterwards Blake himself came across the wreckage and helped Tarrant. Not realising who he was or vice versa!
6. Servalan was probably the most ruthless villian in the entire show! Which of the following administrative positions did she NOT hold in The Federation?

Answer: Fleet Commander

She was Supreme Commander at first, then became President and after faking her death went under the alias Commissioner Slear. After all these years I still can't believe she survived and none of the heroes did. Sniff, sniff.
7. What was the name of the computer controlling "The Liberator"?

Answer: Zen

When Jenna, Avon and Blake were exploring their new ship after the prison transport had left, Jenna touched a panel in the control room which read her mind and started speaking to them in english. The voice introduced itself as "Zen", the ship's computer.
8. Orac the super computer was created by a father and son team. The son promised Orac to The Federation in exchange for medical supplies his father needed. The Federation, true to form, conspired to kill the son (and medic) and to take Orac for free. Which of Orac's creators was named "Ensor"?

Answer: Both

By amazing co-incidence the medic travelling with Ensor Jr when the ship exploded was the same who had saved Travis' life years ago (after Blake shot him). Travis was not happy when he learnt his saviour had been killed.
9. Cally, the telepathic member of the gang, had a twin sister on Auron (also played by Jan Chappell) whom we only saw once in the episode "Auron". What was her name?

Answer: Zelda

That was the last time Cally saw her homeworld. At the end of that episode Servalan destroyed it (and Zelda) from her flagship in orbit. But in doing so she actually wiped out her own incubating children/clones whom her aide had falsely reported had been killed by the Auronians.

Servalan felt the anguish and heard the pain of her children when they died. "What goes around..." they say.
10. Who was the one who inadvertently betrayed the gang to the authorities in the final episode which led to a shootout where none survived?

Answer: Blake

I must admit, I NEVER would have guessed he of all would do that (not least because Servalan had lied to Avon and co a year ago and said Blake was actually killed in an accident).

But it turned out that Blake was only pretending to be a traitor, so Avon killed him under the wrong impression. Which only makes it all worse.
