Frank is played by Tom Selleck (post "Magnum") with authority, honesty, compassion and integrity; o.k., so it's fictional! Frank's mother is deceased but his father Henry, an ex-police commissioner, lives with him. Frank's family gets together for Sunday dinner every week, where they discuss all manner of problems, values, morality, etc.

His family includes his oldest son Danny, Danny's wife and two boys, Frank's daughter Erin and her daughter, and Frank's youngest son Jamie (it's a big table).

Len Cariou is Canadian, was born in 1939, and may be best known as Sweeney Todd in the original production of the musical, "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street". Len starred opposite Angela Lansbury in the 1979 Broadway production, for which he won a Tony Award; he later rejoined Lansbury in a recurring role on her series "Murder, She Wrote", for which he was nominated in 2009 for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie.

In 2004 he was honored by being elected into the American Theater Hall of Fame.

He hasn't seemed to slow down since, besides his TV appearances as Henry Reagan, he is scheduled to appear in several movies.

Joseph 'Joe' Conor Reagan is listed by 'Wikia' (free web hosting service) as the third oldest child of Frank Reagan and, alternately on YouTube, as Frank's oldest son; the dispute does not change the fact that Joe was a NYPD Police Detective like his brothers, and he was murdered in the line of duty while investigating a group of corrupt NYC cops for the FBI.

The date of his demise is listed as May 15, 2009, which was 15 months before "Blue Bloods" aired its first episode. All we have is a picture of Joe (from an uncredited actor) and the fact that he was closest to his brother Jamie. Joe "We Hardly Knew Ye" or, more accurately, we never met you at all!

Peter Hermann, who plays Erin's ex-husband, John 'Jack' Boyle, became the real life husband of Mariska Hargitay in 2004. He met her while filming an episode of "Law and Order: SVU", playing the role of attorney Trevor Langen. By the way, his occupation on "Blue Bloods" is...a lawyer (surprise!). I guess if his acting career declines, he could always go to law school.

He started in TV in the 1990s soap opera "The Guiding Light" where he portrayed Michael Burke - a doctor; he has also been in movies like "United 93", "Our Idiot Brother" and the 2013 film "Philomena", starring Dame Judi Dench.

Danny Reagan's wife, Linda, is an ER nurse played by Amy Carlson; she is the mother of Sean and Jack. She is usually very supportive of her family and calm in the face of adversity - a requirement of her job as a registered nurse in the emergency room of a New York hospital.

However, when necessary, she is able to stand 'toe to toe' with her tough husband, 'stick to her guns' and fight for what she believes in, even if it happens to be on the other side of an argument at a Sunday dinner with the whole Reagan clan. Jamie went to Harvard Law school, possibly to follow in his sister's footsteps, but changed his mind and decided to go into 'the family business'.

He was very close to his brother, Joe, and was devastated by his murder; Jamie even went undercover to investigate his brother's death and its connection to the 'Blue Templar'.

He seems to be the nicest of all the children, rarely discussing his political beliefs but always fighting for what's right.

Detective 1st Grade Daniel Fitzgerald Reagan, the oldest of the Reagan siblings, is played by Donnie Wahlberg. He portrays Danny as a smart detective, a loose cannon, and an ex-marine who did a traumatic tour in Iraq. In real life, Donnie is the older brother of Mark Wahlberg, hip-hop singer, formerly of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, who went on to be a Calvin Klein model and an actor in films like "Boogie Nights", "Three Kings" and "The "Perfect Storm".

As for Donnie, he has been a singer with "New Kids on the Block", was in movies like "The Sixth Sense" (at the very beginning) and "Band of Brothers" and in 2014 he married Jenny McCarthy.

Erin Reagan (formerly Boyle), played by Bridget Moynahan, is a Manhattan A.D.A. who was promoted to Deputy Trial Bureau Chief. She lives with her teenage daughter, Nicole "Nicky' Reagan-Boyle, played by Sami Gayle. Nicky is often in conflict with her grandfather and great-grandfather about their 'old school' ways; she is also often in conflict with her mother because she is a teenage girl! Coincidentally (yeah, right), Erin prosecutes many of the felons who her detective brother has caught but, unlike her brother, she is very 'by-the-book'. Mayor Poole offered Erin the position of Deputy Mayor of Operations but she turned it down.

All of the choices given are characters on the show, but Jamie is partnered with Edit 'Eddie' Janko. Eddie, played by Vanessa Ray, is of Serbian descent (which comes in handy when she goes undercover to stop a sex-trafficking Serbian mob), very pretty, very opinionated and very dedicated to her job.

Her father was a financial advisor who was put in prison for a Ponzi scheme run by his company (a la Madoff) which bilked a lot of people out of their life savings. There was some sexual tension between Jamie and Eddie, and even a kiss, but that stopped when Jamie found out it would cause him to lose Eddie as a partner and a friend.
