Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Jimmy met Kim at a hotel bar during his brief retirement from being a lawyer in the "Switch" episode, he wanted to try a high-priced item from the menu. What item was it that Gus Fring also used to poison Don Eladio in the "Salud" episode of "Breaking Bad"?

Answer: Zafiro Aņejo tequila

Gus Fring presented a poisoned bottle of "Zafiro Aņejo" to Don Eladio in the "Salud" episode of "Breaking Bad". In "Switch", Jimmy met with Kim at the hotel bar, and when he wanted to order a drink, he asked the waiter if the price of $50 for a shot of tequila was a misprint.

When he found out it wasn't, he wanted to order it and charge it to some unsuspecting guest's room. Kim stopped him; she told the waiter she was paying and ordered him a shot of their house brand instead. By the way, "gold-infused chocolate bacon"? It was an actual item sold by a bakery in New York called the Baconery.
2. On "Breaking Bad", Walter White set a BMW on fire that belonged to a rude, self-centered man who had taken his parking place at a bank. In the "Switch" episode of "Better Call Saul", Jimmy and Kim pulled a con on the same man, who was giving them advice as a stockbroker, in the resort bar. What was the man doing in both series when Walt and Jimmy first saw him?

Answer: Talking on a Bluetooth

In "Breaking Bad", actor Kyle Bornheimer played the character, Ken, in the episode "Cancer Man". He was the obnoxious man who stole a parking spot from Walt at the bank, and it was his BMW, with the license plate "Ken Wins", that Walter White sabotaged by putting a wet squigee on the battery at a gas station.

In the "Switch" episode, Jimmy asked Ken if there was a limit to how much a person is allowed to invest and then asked whether it mattered if it was an inheritance. He played dumb to engage Ken, and when Ken found out that Jimmy's uncle left them $1.4 million, he offered them a free consultation. Jimmy pretended to be "Viktor with a 'k'" and Kim played along, whipping out the name Giselle St. Clair.

Although Kim was a bit cautious at first, when Ken offered to buy them a drink, she asked if he'd heard of Zafiro Aņejo. Ken ordered them "three of what she just said".

After drinking the entire bottle, "Viktor" and "Giselle" signed a contract with Ken. When the bill came, Ken grabbed it, but he didn't look at it until after Jimmy and Kim had made their escape.

In both series, Ken was talking loudly on a Bluetooth, oblivious to everyone around him.
3. In the "Cobbler" episode, Kim gave Jimmy a travel mug with a message on it as a gag gift. On "Breaking Bad", Saul Goodman had a coffee mug on his desk that had a similar message on it, just with one less word. What was written on the mug that Kim gave Jimmy?

Answer: World's 2nd Best Lawyer

Kim gave Jimmy the yellow travel mug in the garage following their first joint HHM-Davis & Main meeting. When he received his Mercedes company car, Jimmy found out that the mug wouldn't fit in the car's cup holders. At the end of the "Bali Ha'i" episode, he'd finally had enough of it not fitting and adjusted the cup holder with a tire iron. On "Breaking Bad", Saul Goodman's coffee mug sat on his desk, usually filled with pencils, and it read "World's Best Lawyer".
4. In the "Amarillo" episode of "Better Call Saul", Mike put batteries in a toy that he then gave to his granddaughter, Kaylee, and she watched it flop around on the floor. In the "Madrigal" episode of "Breaking Bad", Mike hung the same toy on a door to distract a hit man sent by Lydia. What type of toy was it?

Answer: A stuffed pig

In the "Madrigal" episode of "Breaking Bad", Mike and Kaylee were playing the "Hungry, Hungry Hippos" game, and the stuffed pig was rolling around on the ground while they were playing. He then got a call from Duane Chow who asked him to come to his house, but it was actually a set up; Lydia had a hit man (Chris Mara) waiting to kill Mike.

But Mike was smart - he distracted Chris by hanging the squirming pig on the front door while he entered the house through the back. In the "Amarillo" episode, we got to see when Mike first gave the pig to Kaylee.

He put the batteries in it, and then Kaylee watched it as it rolled around on the ground. Mike then went into the kitchen to give Stacey money while Kaylee played with the pig.
5. On "Breaking Bad", we first met Lawson when Walter White purchased an item from him instead of buying it legally. In the "Gloves Off" episode of "Better Call Saul", Mike initially decided not to buy an item from him but later did so in the "Klick" episode. What was Lawson in the business of selling?

Answer: Guns

Lawson (Jim Beaver) first appeared on "Breaking Bad" in the beginning of the "Thirty-Eight Snub" episode when Walt met with him to buy a gun. When Walt noticed that the serial number had been filed off, Lawson told him that if he just needed the gun for defense, he could buy one legally that would have a number on it.

But Walt decided to go with Lawson's gun. Later in the series, in the "Live Free or Die" episode, Lawson met with Walt at a Denny's to deliver a car with a machine gun. In the "Gloves Off" episode of "Better Call Saul", Mike met Lawson in a hotel room where he showed Mike three different rifles.

The two of them discussed the pros and cons of each weapon like seasoned gun aficionados. Mike wasn't interested in the first two but picked up the third one, the M-40 "essentially the same rifle used by Marine snipers since 1966". Lawson pointed out that Mike seemed familiar with the M-40, which Mike confirmed.

When Lawson told him that the stock had been changed from wood to fiberglass in 1970, Mike said, "Good. Wood warped like hell. You get it wet, you put it in the sun - gone. Somebody should have figured that out before they put it into a damn jungle." Lawson said that he could get some other rifles if Mike didn't like these, but Mike said that he'd changed his mind.

He offered Lawson money "for your trouble", but Lawson said that he made "his living on repeat business. When you need what I'm offering, you know where to find me". But in the "Klick" episode, we found out that Mike had changed his mind, and not only bought the rifle but also had Lawson help him zero the rifle.
6. Walter White strangled drug dealer Domingo "Krazy-8" Molina to death with a bicycle lock in Jesse Pinkman's basement on "Breaking Bad". In the "Gloves Off" episode of "Better Call Saul", we saw Krazy-8 meeting with Tuco at the taco shop, and he was wearing a shirt and driving a van that advertised the place where he worked. What location was it, where Walter White had purchased an item for Walt Jr. many years ago?

Answer: Tampico furniture store

In the first season of "Breaking Bad", when Krazy-8 and Emilio had caught up with Walt and Jesse at the RV in the desert, Walt tried to kill them by creating a toxic gas mixture, but Krazy-8 survived. They locked him up in Jesse's basement while they decided what to do with him, and in the "... and the Bag's in the River" episode, while chatting with him, Walt discovered Krazy-8 used to work for Tampico Furniture Store, which was owned by his (Krazy-8's) father.

The two of them sang the jingle to the store, and Walt reminisced that he bought a crib there sixteen years ago for Walt Jr.

In the "Gloves Off" episode, Tuco and Nacho met with Krazy-8 at the El Michoacano taco joint where Tuco conducted his weekly meetings with his dealers. Krazy-8 was wearing the Tampico shirt and the Tampico van was in the parking lot. Tuco tried his lie detector on him, which consisted of Tuco staring at him to get a response. Krazy-8 looked nervous but Tuco let him go.

After Krazy-8 left, Nacho said that "he's got good numbers.

He's hustling".
7. Hector Salamanca was an instrumental player in the death of Gus Fring on "Breaking Bad". Hector made his appearance on "Better Call Saul" in the "Rebecca" episode when he met Mike at a diner to discuss Tuco's gun. What noise, synonymous with Hector on "Breaking Bad", was heard right before Hector walked into the diner?

Answer: A bell

Hector Salamanca first appeared in the "Grilled" episode of "Breaking Bad" when Jesse and Walt were abducted by Tuco and taken to his desert hideout where his Uncle Hector was living. Hector was in a wheelchair and couldn't speak; he used the bell that was attached to his wheelchair to communicate.

In the "Face Off" episode of "Breaking Bad", a bomb attached to Hector's wheelchair was used to kill Gus Fring; it detonated as Hector wildly rang the bell. In the "Rebecca" episode of "Better Call Saul", when the diner scene started, the cook at the diner hit the "order up" bell on the counter right before Hector entered the diner.

It was the same type of bell that had been attached to Hector's wheelchair on "Breaking Bad".
8. In the "Bali Ha'i" episode, when Jimmy and Kim ran a scam on a guy who tried to pick her up in a bar, they received a check made out to a company named after a film. In the "Amarillo" episode, they were shown watching the movie at Jimmy's apartment. It was the same film that Saul Goodman used for the name of his tax-evasion holding company on "Breaking Bad". Which 1968 Rock Hudson Cold-War film was it?

Answer: Ice Station Zebra

The 1968 film appeared to be about a mission to rescue personnel from a drifting weather station called Ice Station Zebra at the North Pole, but the true mission was actually to obtain a film canister before the Soviets recovered it. On "Breaking Bad", the name of Saul Goodman's holding company, "Ice Station Zebra Associates" showed up a few times.

In the "Better Call Saul" episode of "Breaking Bad", Saul told Badger to have a check made out to "Ice Station Zebra Associates" to cover the cost of his legal defense, and in the "Abiquiu" episode, Walt gave Skyler a check from the same company to pay for Hank's medical expenses.

At the end of the "Amarillo" episode of "Better Call Saul", Jimmy and Kim were curled up on the couch in his apartment watching "Ice Station Zebra", which Kim claimed was a favorite film of her dad.

In the "Bali Ha'i" episode, when Jimmy asked Kim if she was going to cash the $10k check she received from their scam on bar patron Dale, she said she was going to keep it as a souvenir and placed it on her mirror.

Incidentally, the check, which was made out to "Ice Station Zebra Associates", was drawn on Cradock Marine Bank, which was the same bank in which Mike had deposits made to the safety deposit boxes of his "guys" and Kaylee on "Breaking Bad".
9. As the "Fifi" episode began, Jimmy and Kim were eating a meal to celebrate their Wexler and McGill law office collaboration. The restaurant they were at was the same one where Jesse Pinkman used to sell meth and where he bought a gun on "Breaking Bad". Which type of restaurant was it?

Answer: A hot dog stand

The Dog House appeared several times in "Breaking Bad" starting with the "Crazy Handful of Nothin'" episode in season one when Jesse was shown selling meth there during a montage sequence. He returned to the restaurant in the next season's "Seven Thirty-Seven" episode to buy a gun.

It was also the restaurant in front of which Jesse was sleeping in his car in the "Blood Money" episode when he gave a homeless man a stack of money. On "Better Call Saul", when Kim told Jimmy that she'd accept his offer to go into business together (albeit with the caveat that they have separate practices), Jimmy suggested they go out to eat at a Whataburger (a fast food restaurant chain in the southern U.S.), but at the beginning of the next episode, they were seen eating at a picnic table in front of the Dog House hot dog stand. Jimmy said that he wanted to take her to "a more high-end establishment" and that the restaurant didn't count for their formal celebration, but Kim pointed out that they were "pinching pennies now".

The Dog House is a real restaurant in Albuquerque, and it was also featured in the 2006 film "First Snow".
10. As series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould admitted after the broadcast of the "Klick" episode, the series had some very smart fans who had figured out a clue in the episode titles. If you rearrange the initial letter of each of the season two episode names, which "Breaking Bad" character is mentioned?

Answer: Gus Fring

The season two episodes were "Switch", "Cobbler", "Amarillo", "Gloves Off", "Rebecca", "Bali Ha'i", "Inflatable", "Fifi", "Nailed" and "Klick". Rearrange SCAGRBIFNK and you'll get FRINGS BACK. Gilligan and Gould admitted that they planned to reveal the anagram hint after the "Klick" episode aired, when everyone was wondering who left the "DON'T" message on Mike's car, but some sharp fans had already caught on and had posted it on social media before the episode aired. Gilligan and Gould also stated that they didn't intend to have Gus Fring appear during season two.

There were rumors of a cameo late in the season, but the character they were considering was Marie Schrader. Gilligan said that they thought about having her be the technician who handled Chuck's CAT scan but decided against it because they wanted the focus to be on Chuck during that scene and thought that Marie would be a distraction.
