Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. _____ Dodgers and the Return of the Twenty-Fourth and a Half Century
Answer: Duck
Daffy Duck again played as Duck Dodgers as he did in "Duck Dodgers in the Twenty-Fourth and a Half Century". This time his mission was to find the rack-and-pinion molecule needed to make yo-yo polish. He met Marvin the Martian and Gossamer, a large monster covered with red hair.
2. _____ Hood Daffy
Answer: Robin
Robin Hood (Daffy Duck) threatens Friar Tuck (Porky Pig) with a quarterstaff ("Actually, it's a buck-and-a-quarter quarterstaff, but I'm not telling him that.") Robin Hood is so clumsy in his attempts to rob a wealthy traveler that Friar Tuck does not believe he's Robin Hood. Robin says, "Never mind. I'll join you. Shake hands with Friar Duck."
3. Rabbit _____
Answer: Hood
The Sheriff of Nottingham catches Bugs Bunny taking a carrot from the king's carrot patch. Bugs spends the cartoon "Rabbit Hood" playing pranks on the sheriff.
4. The Great _____ Bank Robbery
Answer: Piggy
Daffy plays Duck Twacy, a detective fighting strange villains when he tries to find out who stole all the piggy banks in town. It was a satire of "Dick Tracy". Neon Noodle was a string of neon light in the shape of Frankenstein's monster. Rubberhead was a man shaped like a pencil who erased Duck Twacy with his eraser head.
5. One _____ Evening
Answer: Froggy
This was the cartoon about the singing frog. A construction worker finds a frog in a box. The frog puts on a top hat and sings and dances. The man takes the frog to an agent, but the frog won't do anything when the agent sees him. The man rents a theater, and the frog is singing and dancing constantly, until the curtain rises.
When the audience can see the frog, it just sits there croaking. (Chuck Jones has said in interviews that when he directed a cartoon, he knew exactly why each character did what they did, except for this one.
He didn't know why that frog only sang when he was alone with the construction worker, and stopped when anyone else saw him.)
6. _____ Hatches the Egg
Answer: Horton
Horton was an elephant sitting in a tree when three hunters found him. They dug up the tree and traveled with it, charging people money to look at the elephant in the tree. Horton was sitting there because a bird said she wanted to take a break from sitting on the egg in the nest. When the egg finally hatched, the thing that came out looked like a tiny elephant with wings.
7. _____ the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Answer: Rudolph
This was the famous cartoon based on the song about a reindeer with a shiny red nose. The other reindeer made fun of him until Santa Claus needed the glowing nose at the front of his sleigh so he could see through the fog on Christmas Eve.
8. _____ Moo-Cow and Robinson Crusoe
Answer: Molly
This 1936 cartoon was the last of a series of cartoons featuring Molly Moo-Cow. This time she was stranded on an island with Robinson Crusoe. She was in the ocean on a wooden raft and washed on shore. Robinson Crusoe shot at her because he wanted to be alone, but then natives arrived and put him in a boiling pot. Molly chased the natives away.
9. The ___ in the Hat
Answer: Cat
A boy and girl were in the house on a rainy day. The Cat in the Hat showed up and played games with them. He released Thing One and Thing Two who tore up the house while the goldfish yelled about it.
10. _____ in a Polka
Answer: Pigs
This was a retelling of "The Three Little Pigs". This time two of the pigs did a lot of dancing while the third pig built a brick house. Then the big bad wolf arrived.
