"Doctor Who" had an extremely low budget in the twentieth century. Set pieces often wobbled, many exotic alien planets were represented by quarries, and in one story, the alien effects were done with green bubble wrap. I admit some bias in writing this question, as I'm a fan of the show.

They have way too much fun saying the word "booby" and Joel makes them stop, even though "it's just the name of a bird." The actual trick is Joel being pressed between "razor-sharp knives" on wobbly walls. Joel feels fine; he then takes a drink and water spouts from his clothes. The Mads frequently call Joel "booby".

The guards are dressed in red cloaks and helmets with long ponytails, which remind the crew of Roman soldiers and Little Caesar's pizza, whose slogan is "Pizza pizza". Tom also remarks that the front of the armor looks like a chocolate bar.

Answer: He wears a lot of body oil.

"You think it's easy to find skin bronzer in here?" His skin is perpetually shiny no matter what happens. They also sing lots of songs about him, like "Herculee, Herculaa" and "I Enjoy Being a Guy".

Answer: Revive their queen

They've made a deal with Queen Samara: for her help, they'll give her riches, eternal beauty, and power like theirs. They hope the blood will revive their queen from sleep. Joel's response? "Eeewwwww!"

Answer: Pants

The bots don't like movies where "men wear shorter skirts than the women" and sing about how great pants are. Even Frank starts marching and singing. In DVD outtakes, Crow accidentally swaps "men" and "women", and Tom replies that he likes movies like that. Another outtake shows them forgetting the lyrics and singing swear words instead.

Answer: Sandstorm

The characters are caught in a sandstorm, and many scenes are devoted to them stumbling around. Eventually Joel, Tom, and Crow break down: they scream, sob, and start singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". "Lost Continent" features a rock climbing sequence that is similarly mind-numbing, which is why Dr. Forrester mentions it at the beginning of this episode.

When Hercules runs into a rock wall, the crew are horrified at the idea of rock climbing AND sandstorm.

Answer: Switches actors

He notes that Steve Reeves plays Hercules in "Hercules Unchained" whereas Alan Steel plays him in this movie; they don't look alike. Joel thinks that Reeves wanted too much money for a sequel, so another actor had to be cast. Actually, this movie was originally titled "Maciste vs. the Moon Men", Maciste being a Hercules-like character from Italian silent films, so it isn't related to "Hercules Unchained" at all.
