"MST3K": "Ring of Terror" Trivia Quiz

Answer: Tom and Crow trick Joel into thinking the movie's starting.

They get Cambot to make the Movie Sign lights come on, so Joel runs off. Crow says, "He actually did it...What a maroon!" When the commercial sign comes up, Crow has a hard time pushing the button and has to hit it with his head. When Joel gets back, he takes it well; he even says that he programmed the bots to rib him every so often.

Answer: It comes after the movie instead of before.

All other shorts are shown before the movie. This one comes afterwards, which horrifies and pains the crew. They are relieved that the experiment for the day was short...only to be forced to watch another piece of an old adventure serial.

Answer: Puma

The way he calls after the cat is made fun of in other episodes, like "Pod People" and "Cave Dwellers". The search for the cat is part of the movie's framing device, in which the man tells us how the main character of the movie dies.

Answer: The young college students are played by much older actors.

The main character, whose tombstone says he's 22 when he dies, is obviously much older. The SOL crew make jokes throughout the film about the 40-year-old students and the college of old people. Almost every scene has at least one joke on the subject.

Answer: The cafeteria

And that joint is really jumpin'. They do safe dancing and listen to a band that sounds like it has a trumpet, but no trumpet can be seen.

Answer: The autopsy

Joel performs an autopsy on a vacuum cleaner. The camera keeps zooming in on the clock to show time passing, just like in the movie. Gypsy gets queasy and faints.

Answer: In the cemetery

About fifteen minutes from the end of the movie, during a party scene, Tom wonders where the Ring of Terror is. He says, "Joel, what is this?....What about the plot, Joel? Am I the only one who cares?" Crow then remarks that the plot was back in the cemetery. Dr. Forrester even calls the movie plotless before showing it.

Answer: Gate

At the movie's beginning and ending, the camera slowly approaches a gate. They act like they're going to crash into it, even trying to get out of the way, and are relieved when it opens.

Answer: A RAM chip

The bots desperately want RAM chips and work a reference to the chips into almost everything they say. After saying many things they don't like about "Ring of Terror", the bots suggest that the movie provided some people with work; Joel says that the only good thing about the movie is that it's short.

He then gives a chip to Gypsy, who didn't even watch the movie, while Tom and Crow get none.

Answer: Chauffeurs

Forrester sits in a fake car while Frank sings about being a driver. The song is called "If Chauffeurs Ruled the World". He gets the idea from the "Phantom Creeps" short that precedes it.
