"Santa Claus Kidnapped by Martians!" Quiz

Answer: He wants to decide who lives and who dies.

That's a rather dark thing to say on a show aimed at families. The creators thought they could get away with it because the line is said by a robot. Gypsy wants a pony, but Joel says that there's no room for one on the ship.

During the poorly-animated credits, Crow points out a typo - "costume" is written as "custume". The editor must have been sleepy that day. Tom makes up the title "Dial 'M' for Martian".

Answer: Dropo

When Kimar calls Dropo this and asks why he's sleeping, Joel responds, "Cuz I'm the laziest man on Mars!" The names in this movie aren't very original--"Girmar" and "Bomar" for the girl and boy Martians, "Momar" for the mother Martian, and "Kimar" for the King Martian. In a later episode, "Manos: The Hands of Fate", Tom says that Torgo is the laziest man on Mars.

Answer: A Patrick Swayze Christmas

In honor of Crow's favorite movie, "Roadhouse", they put on scarves and sing this song, which Crow wrote. Joel gets upset at some of the violent lyrics, like "Or we'll tear your throat out and kick you in the ear!"

Answer: Bear

"There's a stupid guy in a goofy bear costume out here!" It's a pretty unconvincing costume at best. As Tom notes, you can see the headpiece covering the rest of the costume. The robot that the Martians send after the kids isn't any better: "It's a guy in a cardboard box with a coffee urn on his head."

Answer: Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas

There are also some made-up specials about people who find the true meaning of Christmas, as well as worse versions of beloved films like "Miracle on 34th Street". While "Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas" is a real special, Frank doesn't send it up.

Answer: Headbutts

Every time the Martians lean their foreheads together, the crew say, "Headbutt", which is a joke from the Coneheads segments of "Saturday Night Live". Billy and Betty introduce the Martians to hand shaking and hugs.

Answer: Beard

It's pretty convenient for Dropo that Momar made a fake beard or he never would be able to pull off his Santa gag. Voldar, who doesn't want Santa on Mars, thinks that Dropo is Santa and kidnaps him. One has to wonder how smart these Martians are if they can't see Dropo's obvious antenna sticking out.

Answer: "Santa Claus: killed in Vietnam."

This gag is the last of several jokes about Santa fighting in Vietnam, getting drunk, and being generally violent. The theme song then plays, and Joel is confused that the kids sing "You spell it S-A-N-T-A" but sing "Santy". Tom spells it "S-A-T-A-N". In another Christmas episode, the crew watch "Santa Claus", which pits Santa against Satan.

Answer: He sold Forrester's Rolex.

He hawked Forrester's watch to buy him a watch band, which Forrester now can't use. Forrester gets Frank a book, which he stole from Frank to buy, to which Frank replies, "O, Henry." O. Henry wrote lots of stories with twist endings; Frank selling Forrester's watch to get him a watch band falls right in line with O. Henry's story "The Gift of the Magi", in which a similar thing happens to a couple who buy gifts for each other.

The wrapping paper on Forrester's gift is decorated with "MST3K" decals.
