Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which actress played Deb before her unfortunate and untimely death in the "Pilot"?

Answer: Brooke D'Orsay

Deb was on her way to an audition to become a "Price is Right" model, but was also talking on the phone to her best friend. She was not paying enough attention to the road ahead and crashed into a truck carrying a load of grapefruit. The Ironic Taffy colored nail polish turned out to be quite the opposite of the luck she was hoping. Brooke D'Orsay continued to play Deb in flashbacks, and went on to star as Paige Collins Lawson on "Royal Pains".
2. After Deb hit the "return" key in heaven, she landed in the body of Jane. What was Jane's occupation?

Answer: Lawyer

Jane was a highly intelligent workaholic attorney who'd unintentionally taken a bullet meant for her boss Parker. Deb had been a well intentioned, albeit shallow, aspiring model in her real life. This was a chance for her to change all of that, as she'd inherited Jane's impressive IQ, if not Jane's memories. Brooke Elliot played the mixture of Deb and Jane perfectly.
3. In "The Chinese Wall", Jane worked with David Beckham. What was David?

Answer: Dog

He was a cloned version of an award winning golden retriever. His owner wanted the $200,000 back he'd paid for the cloning, as appearances were all the two dogs had in common. It turned out that the company had used David's DNA to clone several more dogs, all of whom HAD done well in the show dog arena.

He won the case, but was supposed to turn over David Beckham the 2nd. He loved his new dog, despite his show dog shortcomings and refused to give him up as merchandise. Deb/Jane thought they'd let him keep the dog if he signed a non-disclosure agreement.
4. Why was Fred, Deb/Jane's guardian angel, sent back to Heaven?

Answer: For pursuing a relationship with Stacy

Stacy and Deb were best friends before Deb died, and they resumed their friendship after Deb/Jane revealed the truth. They became roommates and Fred immediately took a strong liking to Stacy. He pursued her, and even went on one date with Stacy. This was a violation of his job and he was sent back to Heaven. Only Deb/Jane remembered who he was, and he sent her note to explain what happened.

This was the episode that aired after Jane's 32nd birthday party. He returned in episode ten, but this time he was human and able to stay for good.

After another brief obsession with Stacy, Fred decided to explore his new world for awhile and left town. Ben Feldman played Fred and April Bowlby played Stacy.
5. Deb/Jane caught Grayson kissing her co-worker Kim at the end of "The Magic Bullet".

Answer: True

Grayson Kent was almost Deb's fiance. He'd been planning to propose when she was killed. Deb/Jane found this out later, after Grayson came to work for Harrison Parker. It had been the real Jane who'd planned on interviewing Grayson for a position on the day she and Deb were both killed. Grayson had confided in Deb/Jane that he'd found himself seeing pieces of Deb in Kim as they worked together.

This saddened her, as she'd hoped he'd been seeing Deb inside her all along. Jackson Hurst played Grayson and Kate Levering played Kim.
6. How much did Judge Madeline Summers pay for her membership to the dating service Jane had recommended to her?

Answer: $25,000

In "Make Me a Match", Rosie O'Donnell reprised her role as Judge Summers. Prior to her death, Jane had encourage Madeline to join the service, and even filled out part of the online profile. Madeline went on 28 dates and not one resulted in a second date.

This was a breach of contract, based on the promises made by the company. Deb/Jane, of course, recalled none of these prior occurrences, but wanted to help Madeline get her money back from the service. They won the case in the long run because the vetting process had not been as thorough as promised by the company owner, played by Gina Torres. Judge Summers had lost her husband four years earlier and was hoping to find a man very similar to him with whom to spend her time.
7. Were Deb's parents divorced before her death?

Answer: No

Grayson knew Deb's dad wanted a divorce before her death, but Deb's parents did not file until afterward. He'd encouraged them to wait, as he he'd wanted nothing to spoil his proposal to Deb. Grayson planned to represent Deb's dad in the divorce, so Deb/Jane snatched up her mom's side.

In the end, it turned out that both parents had wanted the divorce. Her mom had even been seeing another man for the last six or seven years. She admitted to Deb/Jane they'd stayed married mostly for her (Deb's) benefit those last few years.
8. In episode 11, "What If", the real Jane's mom arrived in town. Which choice is NOT true of something that happened on Elaine's visit?

Answer: She figured out Jane was really Deb

Faith Prince played Elaine Bingum. Deb/Jane and Tony had dinner plans, and she'd fixed herself up in anticipation. When Tony (actor David Denman) arrived, Elaine made him feel a little guilty about her not having more time with Jane. So, he stayed there and had pot roast prepared by Elaine.

In this episode, Elaine also visited Harrison Parker for the first time, and stayed with Jane and Stacy during her visit. It became clear that the real Jane hadn't been close with her mother, or maybe close to anyone.

She had clearly been a workaholic bent on making partner at her firm. For any "Angel" fans out there, David Denman played the demon Skip, who'd played a pivotal role in bringing forth Jasmine.
9. In "Dead Model Walking", Christy Talbot, a rich widow and famous model, was accused of killing her husband. Who really killed him?

Answer: Christy's best friend

Christy's husband was charged with running a Ponzy scheme. So, when his body turned up, police believed Christy had killed him to prevent the loss of his estate. In actuality, her best friend had been having an affair with him and had killed him herself.

He'd set up two bank accounts for her with a total worth of six million dollars. The key to breaking the case was the color and type of lipstick found on the man's neck during autopsy. Of course, it was Deb/Jane who figured that out with all of years of fashion sense.
10. What did Deb/Jane decide to do in the season one finale, "Grayson's Anatomy", that she knew would cause her to lose her job?

Answer: Break attorney/client privilege

She'd represented a former minor league baseball player who'd been rendered unable to pitch after a seemingly botched operation. It turned out that her $15 million victory was bittersweet when she realized the baseball player and his doctor had cooked up the entire thing to scam the insurance company.

He'd actually used his doctor. She was a bit older than he was, and he had a long running affair with her up until the point she performed his surgery. Jane decided to report them, though it was against the law for her to do so.

In the end, all the doctor got was $20,000, and not half as her lover had promised her. He'd pulled a very good long con on her. At the end, Deb/Jane told Stacy what had happened, and that she may lose her license to practice law.
