Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Will the ghost of Sheila Carter never die? Around 2009 audiences discovered that Sheila had left behind her evil spawn to torture the object of her obsession, Lauren Fenmore Baldwin. What were the names of Sheila's awful offspring?

Answer: Ryder and Daisy Callahan/Carter

Daisy and Ryder were the biological twins of Sheila and the "Terrible" Tom Fisher. That made them the half-siblings of Kevin Fisher, brother-in-law of Lauren Fenmore Baldwin. Tom Callahan was one of Tom's alternate identities. The twins never really knew their mother, who was said to have abandoned them in her pursuit of Lauren. Daisy especially was twisted and bitter about this fact, with a fire fueled brighter by her maniacal aunt, Sarah Smythe. Sarah had cosmetic surgery to make herself look exactly like Lauren, which eventually led to the kidnapping of both Lauren and Kevin's wife Jana.

The pair was saved, Sarah killed, and the twins went on the run from the law. Ryder came back briefly soon after and had an affair with a mentally altered Jana, while Daisy (now using Sheila's original surname of Carter) returned in the Fall of 2010 claiming to be pregnant with Daniel Romalotti's baby.

Sheila herself had once commandeered the identity of Daniel's mother Phyllis, with a cosmetic make-over of her own.

It was this identity Sheila died within in 2007. Wilson Blethel, who played Ryder, went on to star on the CW drama "Hart of Dixie" in 2011.
2. In November of 2010, Sharon Newman found herself torn about remarrying her first husband, Nick. So, she left town to try and collect her thoughts, followed swiftly by her most recent ex-husband, Adam. It was here that she finally gave in to her desires for Adam. In which romantic city did Adam and Sharon Newman reunite as lovers?

Answer: New Orleans, Louisiana

It was Thanksgiving time for the misfits of Genoa City once again. And, once again Sharon was in crisis flight mode. Sharon's crisis flights never seemed to have ended well. She said goodbye to her fiance, first ex-hubby Nick Newman, and their baby daughter Faith without revealing her destination.

Not long afterward, Skye Newman (Adam Newman's then current wife) disappeared in the wake of the collapsed Newman Fund, and Adam followed his beloved Sharon on her train ride to New Orleans. Blood found in Adam and Skye's room at the athletic club, coupled with her disappearance, led most folks believing Adam's murderous ways had resurfaced. So, in a Sharon related panic (nothing new here), Nick was desperate to find her. Lauren revealed that she believed Sharon was heading to New Orleans, so Nick traveled there with Michael Baldwin, a native of the city.

In her search for answers, Sharon visited a tarot card reader, and long story short, reconnected with Adam in one of New Orlean's cemeteries.

The pair walked, and talked, eventually making love inside a beautiful plantation home. Sharon always seemed to want the man most wrong for her at any given moment, and this occasion was no different. Sharon Case played Sharon Newman during this time, and for many years prior. Michael Muhney played Adam Newman during this time period. If you're a fan of his, you should follow him on Twitter. He and Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) have been hilarious in their playful poking at one another.
3. In Genoa City, often times it's an awful life. But, many rejects tended to have epiphanies during the Christmas season. In 2010, Victor Newman had his own Scrooge like experiences when he was visited by three ghosts to show him the error of his ruthless ways. With which three ghosts did Victor take "A Christmas Carol" journey?

Answer: Hope, Sabrina and Colleen

Victor had always proven to be an emotional contradiction. When he's been happy, loving and generous of spirit, he's the most amazing human being one can encounter. But more often than not, Victor "Christian Miller" Newman is a controlling, ruthless and bitter business man to the core.

In a sequence of events that led Victor to feel victimized, the Christmas of 2010 found him feeling a deluxe portion of the "bah humbugs" instead of "Merry Christmas". So, after his one act of kindness, which was also selfish in nature, he was ready to curl up with a cup of "feel sorry for Victor" for the holidays.

He'd given a job to Diane Jenkins, who was particularly desperate for money. So, his long dead and much maligned father came to him and warned of three visitors.

After his Jacob Marley routine, Victor's dad vanished from the TV screen. Victor was subsequently treated to a tour of his mistakes, as well as some happier moments, causing him to rethink his self-imposed holiday isolation. He promised the final ghost, which he guessed was Colleen Carlton, that he would not misuse her heart any longer. Victor had received her heart in a transplant after she was killed by Patty Williams.

The next day was Christmas, and Victor set about making small amends. He visited all of his children, except for the incarcerated Adam, as well as the newly engaged Ashley. He also dismissed Diane from working through the holiday so she could spend time with Kyle, the son she shared with Jack Abbott.
4. It's never a surprise when childbirth takes a turn for the atypical. After a very pregnant Daisy escaped custody in January 2011, Daniel caught up with her just in time to deliver his own daughter. But who was it that ended up with the baby just days later and named her Lucy?

Answer: Billy and Victoria Abbott

Right after Daniel delivered his daughter, a desperate Daisy conked him over the head with a big silver flashlight (or a torch for the UK natives). She ended up leaving the baby inside a church and making her way to Canada. Her image was caught on tape at the border, but she'd made herself appear to still be pregnant. So, no one really knew for sure she'd had the baby, as poor Daniel laid unconscious in the hospital. Along with the head injury, he also faced severe hypothermia from laying out in the cold so long. After he woke, his memory was very foggy. A man found the baby in the church and sold her to a baby broker. The woman turned out to be the daughter of Rose Deville, the same women who'd taken Ronan from Nina when he was a baby. She sold the baby to a desperate Billy Abbott for $2 million dollars. And while Victoria was hesitant about the speedy way he'd come across with a baby, she chose to believe his story and they named their baby Lucy. When Daniel held baby Lucy, he realized who she was, but decided she was better off with Billy and Victoria. In the summer of 2011, Billy and Lucy lost custody of Lucy to Phyllis, and they separated soon after. Billy left town and was gone for several months.

Billy Miller played Billy Abbott and Amelia Heinle played Victoria at this time. During his time away from the show, Billy Miller filmed several episodes of the CW hit "Ringer" alongside former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum Sarah Michelle Gellar.
5. Soap operas tend to follow the theme of "I am my brother's keeper", and "Y&R" is no different. In the winter of 2011, Nina's youngest son Chance was brought out of witness protection to save the life of his brother Ronan Malloy. Chance was the only familial match for a partial liver transplant to save Ronan's life. What genetic disease did Ronan suffer from that had already killed his biological father?

Answer: Amyloidosis

Ronan turned out to be Nina's missing baby boy. He'd been taken from Nina by the devious Rose Deville and sold on the black market. Nina eventually wrote a book about her experience and subsequent search for her missing son. This book allowed Ronan to determine he was her missing child. Fortunately, Ronan had been raised by loving parents. But, Ronan had also inherited a disease from his father Jimmy, who had died at the same age Ronan was currently, about 30 years old.

In real time, Ronan would be about 25, since Nina's storyline occurred in 1986. Nina, Heather Stevens, and Paul were all tested to be a match for Ronan, as he needed a liver transplant.

The Amyloidosis had destroyed his liver and he was dying. Chance, Nina's son with Phillip Chancellor Jr., was Ronan's only hope.

He came to town to save his brother's life. Ronan disappeared shortly thereafter, making it seem as though he'd scammed his biological family in order to save his life. Ronan returned though, just in time to investigate the murder of Diane Jenkins.
6. After Sharon Newman was convicted of murdering Skye Lockhart in the spring of 2011, she escaped police custody and was presumed dead for a few months. What was the name of the man with whom she found refuge, played by actor Sean Patrick Flanery?

Answer: Sam Gibson

Sharon was on the run from police, initially aided by her lover and former husband Adam Newman. While on the run, she was carjacked by a local couple, and the woman was later killed when Sharon's car went off the road. Her engagement ring and driver's license were found in the car, and with the body burned beyond recognition, people presumed Sharon had died in the accident. She allowed them all to continue to believe it as she tried to move on with her life. She found shelter, and later more, with veterinarian Sam Gibson. She told him her name was Sheri, and he followed her back to Genoa City after the truth about her identity was discovered. Back in town, Adam tricked Sharon into thinking he forgave her for her disappearance and romantic betrayal, and she agreed to marry him before heading off to prison. By breaking off the ceremony before the marriage was completed, Adam also secured his freedom from prosecution from his culpability in Sharon's escape. In his mind, she'd betrayed him completely and he turned on her as he had everyone else who'd cared for him.

Sean Patrick Flanery also played the intense role of Jeremy "Powder" Reed in the 1995 movie "Powder". Eric Taylor is the coach on the NBC/Direct TV series "Friday Night Lights", Peter Bishop is the son of Walter Bishop on Fox's "Fringe" and Scott McCall is the teen werewolf on MTV's series "Teen Wolf".
7. "Who Killed Diane Jenkins?" By July of 2011, Diane Jenkins had fully worn out her welcome in Genoa City once more. Who confessed, to Victor, that he or she had killed Diane in December of 2011?

Answer: Nikki

That entire storyline was character altering. Nikki became a full blown drunk again in 2011, but finally went into rehab for a second time that year and was not seen on screen for months. Diane was murdered in the park, near a stream, and she was found floating in it the next day.

Her room at the Genoa City Athletic Club had been filled with little pillows that each had a unique expression sewed into them. It was presumed by the police, which included Nina's long lost baby boy Ronan Malloy, that the killer had arranged them.

It could have been Diane herself, as she and Adam Newman had planned to frame Victor for her murder, though she did not plan to actually die. There were many suspects as she had injured many people in her short re-residency.

The suspects were Victor, Victoria, Nick, Adam, Phyllis, Jack, Ashley, Tucker and Abby. It wasn't until Nikki returned from rehab in November that Ronan began to add up the pieces in her potential culpability. On December 1, 2011 (US airing) a drunk Nikki confessed to her ex-husband that she had killed Diane back in late July.

She'd sneaked out of rehab and drove back home (an hour and half drive) and killed Diane. He pointed out to her that she blacked out and only woke up in bloodied clothes next to a bloody rock. When she finally passed out, Victor hid her inside the barn. The police had arrived to arrest her, so Victor pretended to be drunk and confessed quite convincingly that it was he would killed Diane and fooled everyone at the same time. Adam arrived on scene at the time of the arrest, and Victor told the police Adam had seen it all himself. Adam knew it was a lie, but told the police he had seen his father murder Diane. It was Victor he wanted to go to prison, as Victor had framed him for a murder as well. But, you could see Adam was torn about backing up that lie.
8. Which of these Genoa City locals was first to know that Devon Hamilton was the long lost child of Tucker McCall?

Answer: Paul Williams

Kay Chancellor hired Paul in September of 2011 to begin the attempt to locate Tucker's long lost child. The child was the result of Tucker's wild party days back when his record label was just getting started. After hardly any effort whatsoever, Paul located the identity of the child.

It made no sense that Tucker, with billions of dollars and endless resources, had no luck himself in locating his child. Paul told Kay, so she was second to know. Jill figured it out after Kay placed Devon in her will, but agreed to back up Kay's secrecy on the subject. Knowing Jill, that could never have lasted very long.

It wasn't long before Tucker and Devon discovered the truth, which left Devon saddened by Kay's lies. He backed out of their business arrangement and he and Abby Newman decided to start their own record label. Abby was still sitting on her half of a billion dollar settlement and was eager to help her friend Devon.

This arrangement came to be in early December 2011, about the time Abby was seemingly starting to find Devon more interesting that "just a friend".
9. Which sometime reject turned out to be the sibling of attorney Avery Bailey Clark?

Answer: Phyllis Summers Newman

Avery came to town with the pretense that it was solely to save a wrongly convicted Sharon Newman. She touted herself as a fighter for those wrongly accused or convicted, and that probably was her truth at the time. It turned out that she was the long forgotten sister of Phyllis, who initially swore Avery to keep that connection a secret. Avery was legally obligated, or morally, or both, to tell Sharon that she was Phyllis's sister. I believe the next person to know was either Nick or Michael, both told by Phyllis herself.

After Phyllis and Ronan Malloy found the missing memory card and saved Sharon, an increasingly acrimonious Avery turned her attention to freeing Daisy Callahan (Carter). She claimed Daisy was a victim too, despite many people pointing out how dangerous the woman had been. Phyllis believed it was just to hurt her, as she could then lose custody of her granddaughter Lucy.

In the midst of all of it, Avery and Nick began a romance of sorts, sending Phyllis into the arms of Ronan. Shortly after Phyllis and Ronan consummated their relationship, so did Avery and Nick. Though, Nick did this without knowledge of Phyllis and Ronan. Nick was always falling for the "poor me" victim routine from women.

The man could not resist any needy woman that wanted him. He bought into her "my sister wronged my family" routine, and I think it was mainly because Phyllis was not forthcoming with any details. Avery was able to sell Nick on her version of the story, which held just the right amount of victimization for him to become enthralled. After he felt forced to fire Phyllis from the magazine in December of 2011, Phyllis told her sister that Nick was "all hers" and to "go for it" before she left town on a short sabbatical.
10. Who turned out to be a bone marrow match for young Delia Abbott in Fall of 2011?

Answer: Billy Abbott

It's been said that in the world of soap operas, when a parent has been missing for a long period of time, the child would end up needing a bone marrow match to bring the parent home. Sadly, in young Cordelia Abbott's case her father was completely off of the grid. No one had heard from Billy since he'd left town in the wake of losing his adopted daughter Lucy. Of course, we could never count out the Great Victor Newman who had a two-sided agenda. Victor located Billy, who was jailed in Myanmar. Somehow Victor was able to buy Billy's way out of the prison cell, and bring him secretly home to be tested as a bone marrow match.

The test was done under the guise of it being Kevin Fisher, who'd already tested as a negative match for the child. Billy matched and an elaborate scheme unfolded for Kevin to pose as the hero, with Billy scheduled to be sent away as soon as his daughter was in the clear. Neither Billy nor Kevin was comfortable with the ruse, and eventually Billy decided to come clean to Victoria about his time in prison.

At the same time that happened, Kevin told Chloe the truth about his involvement. Both Chloe and Victoria were angry with their men, but forgave them both as well. Victoria was beyond tired of her father's constant need to control her personal life, as it had caused her to divorce Billy during his absence. She quit her job with Newman immediately, and her and Nick decided to go into business together. Nick decided to sell "Restless Style" back to Billy, which seemed to kill two birds with one stone.
