Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ghost of Pinecone Troop leader

Answer: Pete Martino

Pete Martino is the leader of a Pinecone Troop group who was killed in 1985 when one of his charges shot him through the neck in a bow-and-arrow accident. The arrow that killed him remains in place; he continues to dress in his scout leader's uniform.

In Episode 6 of Season 1 ("Pete's Wife"), it is disclosed that Pete's wife Carol was having an affair with his best friend before Pete's death and that now they are married. Then he learns that his daughter Laura has named her son after Pete and he is (somewhat) mollified. Pete is played by Richie Moriarty.
2. Ghost of a hippie, a/k/a Flower

Answer: Susan Montero

Susan is a hippie whose name in the commune was "Flower." She died while attempting to befriend a bear. The implication that she is consistently under the influence of cannabis is demonstrated by her power to put a living person under a marijuana-like trance.

In Episode 7 of Season 1 ("Flower's Article") it is disclosed that she was involved in a bank robbery with other members of the commune. Flower is played by Sheila Carrasco.
3. Living freelance journalist

Answer: Samantha Arondekar

Samantha lives with her husband in a tiny New York apartment until she inherits a mansion. They decide to convert it to a bed and breakfast, despite the opposition of the ghosts who live there. Because of a near-death experience, she is able to see and hear those ghosts. Samantha is played by Rose McIver.
4. Ghost of Wall Street trader

Answer: Trevor Lefkowitz

Trevor Lefkowitz is the newest of the ghosts. He is well dressed, like a Wall Street stock trader, except that he wears no pants, having died without them. He is randy. Unlike the other ghosts, Trevor has the ability to touch and move small objects. Trevor is interested in the Internet and learns, in Season 1, Episode 6, that he fathered a child in one of his sexual escapes in the 1990s.

In Season 1, Episode 12, Jay's sister Bela discloses that she is having an on-line relationship in a dating chat room with a "person" who turns out to be Trevor! Trevor is played by Asher Grodman.
5. Ghost of Lenape Native American

Answer: Sasappis

Sasappis is a Lenape Native American who is not pleased with Europeans taking over his homeland. Before his death, he was a storyteller in his tribe. In Season 1, Episode 7 ("Flower's Article"), he reconnects with Shiki, a Lenape woman for whom he had feelings in life. Sasappis is played by Román Zaragoza. Zargoza is of mixed race: Akimel O'otham, Mexican, Japanese and Taiwanese.

His father, Gregory Zaragoza, appeared as a guest star, playing Sasappis's father.
6. Ghost of gay American Revolutionary officer

Answer: Captain Isaac Higgintoot

Isaac Higgintoot was an American captain in the Revolutionary War. He died of dysentery, not in combat. Higgintoot is a closeted gay man. In Season 1, Episode 8 ("D&D), it is learned that a shed on the grounds of the Woodstone country estate served as a British barracks during the war.

The ghosts of three British soldiers live in it, including one for whom Isaac had romantic feelings but accidentally shot to death. Captain Isaac Higgintoot is played by Brandon Scott Jones.
7. Living unemployed chef

Answer: Jay Arondekar

Jay lives with his wife in New York City until she inherits the country estate. It is run down and in need of repairs. They are frustrated in their initial attempts to open the place as an inn by the ghosts who hope to haunt them out. He is an unemployed chef. Unlike his wife, he can neither see or hear the ghosts. Jay is played by Utkarsh Ambudkar.
8. Ghost of the lady of Woodstone Manor

Answer: Hetty Woodstone

Hetty Woodstone was, with her philandering husband, the original owner of Woodstone mansion. She is the present owner's fourth-great-grandmother. In Season 1, Episode 13 ("The Vault"), the ghost of her robber-baron husband is released from a vault in the basement. Ghosts in this series have the potential to ascend to Heaven or descend to Hell.

When Hetty tells him to "go to Hell," he does. Hetty is played by Rebecca Wisocky.
9. Ghost of 1930s jazz singer

Answer: Alberta Haynes

Alberta is a singer who's bootlegged gin was poisoned during Prohibition. She drops names like Al Capone. When she hums, it is sometimes audible to the living. In Season 1, Episode 9 ("Alberta's Fan"), Todd, a biographer, comes to the mansion to do research on his book about her.

He turns out to be so obsessive about her that he had her face tattooed on his back. Alberta is played by Danielle Pinnock.
10. Ghost of a Viking

Answer: Thorfinn

Thorfinn is older than the other ghosts, having been killed by lightning during the Viking exploration of North America around the year 1007. He looks singed. Because of the manner of his demise, he can cause electric lights to flicker. In Season 1, Episode 3 ("Viking Funeral"), his bones are found by workmen renovating the estate. Rather than sell them (at a great price), the present owners attempt to give him a Viking funeral by setting fire to a boat floating on their lake ... which is promptly extinguished by the local fire department. Thorfinn is played by Devan Chandler Long.
