Angel and Buffy are supposed to be having their date in this episode, by Buffy gets sidetracked due to some unscheduled slayage. Buffy shows up a little late, and her hairs got some twigs and dirt in it. Cordelia comes up and says this, making Buffy not feeling very good. Buffy decides that 'Date are things normal girls have. Girls who have time to think about anil polish and facials. You know what I think about? Ambush tactics. Beheading.

Xander is at the pop machine attempting to get a pop out, when Larry comes up to him to ask him if Buffy and him were going out. When Xander replies in the negative, Larry asks if she would ever out with him, and again Xander replies in the negative. Then Larry says that he heard Buffy was 'fast'. Xander defends. Buffy then comes and stops the would-be fight, but Xander gets mad at her because she hurt his pride.

The pop comes out of the machine and Buffy goes 'Oooh, diet!'

Willow and Buffy had snuck into the library to get the watchers diaries to find out what Angel would like, and they are reading them in the washroom when Cordelia comes in. She proceeds to ask Buffy all these questions about Angel, like why does she never see him around.

She's worried that he still lives at home and has to wait fr his dad in order to be able to use the car. Buffy replies 'Cordelia, I think his parents have been dead for a couple of hundred years.' Buffy to goes to tell her that Angel was a vampire, but Cordelia doesn't believe her. Cordelia, 'Oh, he's a vampire! Of course! But the cuddly kind. Like a care bear with fangs.'

Willow and Buffy are talking in Ethan's shopping for their costumes when Buffy discovers that Willow's planning on being a ghost for halloween. Buffy wants Willow to be a little more assertive, to get guys to notice her. Buffy points out that Halloween is the perfect time to be what your not, or as Buffy puts it 'It's come as you aren't night.

The perfect chance for a girl to get sexy and wild with no repercussions.' Willow replies 'I don't get wild. Wild on me equal spaz.'

Drusilla comes into the room, talking her crazy talk again, when she says 'Everything's switching. Outside to inside. It makes her weak.' so Spike's very interested. Drusilla then says 'Do you know what I miss? Leeches.' Spike gets her to tell him what her vision was. Drusilla says it will happen tomorrow - Halloween. Spike goes, 'Tomorrow's Halloween. nothing happens on Halloween.' Drusilla replies with 'Someone's come to change it all. Someone new.'

'Ethan's' is owned by Ethan Rayne, an old friend of Giles when he was in his 'Ripper' stage. Ethan Rayne also appears in the second season's 'The Dark Age' because he and Giles are being hunted by a demon they summoned in their youth; he comes back to Sunnydale in season three in 'Band Candy', when he is subcontracted to use chocolate bars to turn all the adults of Sunnydale into teenagers so that the Mayor to steal some babies for a tribute; and he also comes back in season's four 'A New Man', when he turns Giles into a Fyarl demon.

Buffy dresses in an old-fashioned dress in order to impress Angel, but we later find out that Angel thought the woman from his time were dull, simpering morons. He much prefers women that are exciting, and interesting. Like Buffy.

If Buffy had dressed up as Xena, Warrior Princess, then this whole thing would have not worked out according to Ethan's plan. Willow says she wished Buffy had dressed up as Xena after Buffy talks about seeing the photo of the real her.
