The episode starts off at The Bronze, with "Splendid" playing "Charge" off of the "BtVS" soundtrack. The camera starts on the stage lighting, then pans down to the drummer, who is playing very shiny blue drums.

While on the catwalk at The Bronze, Buffy is approached by a boy who seems to remember an awful lot about Buffy from their Algebra 2 class. His name is Ben, and he is trying to get Buffy to ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Smooth, real smooth. Buffy, being on the Angel-rebound, rejects him. "You came, you saw, you rejected."-- Willow

After rejecting Ben, Buffy tells Willow she's going to stop by the library and ask Giles if she needs to patrol, then sack it. Willow comments that she has been doing a lot of that lately - patrolling and sacking. She has become "All-Work-and-No-Play Buffy."

During the final exchange between James and Grace that keeps being re-enacted, James (then Buffy) raises the gun and states "Love is forever." This is the turning point of the conversation, after which the show usually went to commercial.

Principal Snyder is no one's friend, but he especially despises Buffy. After Buffy stops the first couple in the re-enactment scene, Snyder accuses Buffy of being at fault for the incident. She "incites mayhem, chaos, and disorder" according to him. He claims he's no stranger to conspiracy - he's seen "JFK". In my opinion, this man is on a very strange power trip at this point!

After Xander is attacked, he and Buffy open his locker door again to make sure the arm is gone. There are several stickers on the inside of the door, three of which are "point conception," and advertisement for "The Luv Show," and a Magic 8 ball. There is no poster for Cibo Matto - who, by the way, cannot clog dance.

Giles burnt down the factory that Angel, Spike, and Drusilla had been living in during "Passion." Angel finds the mansion he lives in up until he departs for Los Angeles, and the gardens are filled with the night blooming flower, jasmine. Apparently, he also plants jasmine outside the Hyperion Hotel in L.A.

Spike is basically sick of Angel being so friendly with Drusilla. Most of his dialog in this episode reflects just that. Plus, Angel just can't seem to tire of wheelchair jokes.

Willow, Xander, and Buffy are discussing James and Grace in the Computer Lab. Willow says James was really smart, he made the honor roll. Xander doesn't think so. "He killed a person and killed himself. Those are two of the dumbest things a person could do." Buffy and Willow seem to agree.

Buffy: "He killed her. He should have to pay." Willow: "With his life?" Buffy: "No. He should be doing sixty years in prison breaking rocks and making friends with Rosco the weight lifter." Sounds like punishment enough for me!

Yes, hot dogs and spaghetti turn into snakes in the cafeteria. One of the snakes proceeds to bite Cordy on the face. And I thought my old high school food was bad!

The Police Chief initially suggests the sewer back up as a cover-up, but Snyder is the one to announce it, saying that the same thing happened last week in San Diego.

As they are walking into Sunnydale High to perform the ritual, Cordy asks, "What if this Mangled Triangle thingy doesn't work." Leave it to Cordelia.

Cordelia is eating Saltines while the Scooby Gang talks over their options after the ritual-gone-wrong. This is also where Cordy spots the similarities in James' and Buffy's situations and comments "Over identify much?"
