Robbie Coltrane, or his birth name, Anthony Robert McMillan, was born in 1950 in Rutherglen, Scotland. He portrayed the role of the half-giant and half-human character, Rubeus Hagrid, in all eight "Harry Potter" films.

English actor and former rugby union player Martin Bayfield was Coltrane's stunt double. Bayfield also played the role of a young Hagrid in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002).

An emotional Watson also commented, "I think, really, the truth of it was, Tom was the one that I could often be more vulnerable with." She also recalled a moment where in one of the assignments asking the cast members to draw what they thought God looked like, Tom drew a picture of a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard, to which Watson commented, "And I just don't know how to say it - I just fell in love with him."
