This may come as a surprise to some people, because the voices and expressions of Minh and Connie seem quite different, but this just validates the skill of Lauren Tom, a Chinese-American actress who obviously draws on her roots in her voice renditions of this mother-daughter pair. Lauren Tom has appeared in numerous movie and television roles. Perhaps who two most notable performances were in the movies 'The Joy Luck Club' and 'Bad Santa'.

Though Laoma is quite a number of years older than Bill, this did not stop the two of them from sharing a brief fling.
