Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Any casual viewer of "King of the Hill" knows that the Hill family resided in Texas, but Peggy was not a native Texan. Where was Peggy from?

Answer: Montana

Peggy moved from Montana to Texas when she was a teenager. In some episodes of the show, it was suggested that Peggy left home to get away from her critical and overbearing parents, despite other moments in the show when Peggy's parents were shown in flashbacks to be regular, kind, suburban-type parents.

The critical and overbearing version, of her mother at least, seems to be what the viewer is supposed to believe though, as can be seen in the episode when the Hill family visited Peggy's parents' cattle ranch in Montana (season nine's "A Rover Runs Through It").
2. Which of these dishes was one of Peggy's specialties?

Answer: Spapeggy and Meatballs

In true Peggy Hill fashion, she renamed her signature dish after herself, even though it was pretty much just ordinary spaghetti and meatballs. Peggy's other signature dish was Apple Brown Betty; she claimed to make the best Brown Betty in the state. She served the dessert many times throughout the series, including when the Souphanousinphone family first moved to Arlen. Minh Souphanousinphone altered Peggy Hill's recipe and made the dish even better, much to Peggy's chagrin.
3. Hank's father Cotton rarely called Peggy by her proper name; how did he address her?

Answer: Hank's Wife

Hank's outspoken and brash father, Cotton Hill, a WWII veteran with no shins, was not particularly nice to anybody (except maybe to Bobby, on occasion), but he was often particularly rude to Peggy. He nearly always referred to her as "Hank's wife", even to her face. Cotton also named his second son "Good Hank", or G.H. Sadly, Cotton Hill passed away, due to a "shrimp-related accident" in the twelfth-season episode "Death Picks Cotton".
4. Peggy's brother was in jail for nearly the entirety of the "King of the Hill" series.

Answer: True

Peggy's twin brother, Hoyt Platter, was Luann's father. At the beginning of the series, Luann thought her father was away working on an oil rig, but he was actually in prison. He got out briefly, and visited Arlen in season twelve's "Life: A Loser's Manual", but he was promptly arrested again and returned to prison, though Luann was again under the impression he was going to work on an oil rig.
5. What accolade did Peggy Hill receive on more than one occasion?

Answer: Substitute Teacher of the Year

Peggy Hill was a three-time winner of the Substitute Teacher of the Year award at Tom Landry Middle School (though the first time she won, it was because she created the award herself). Hank almost won the award once, too, when he substitute-taught a shop class at the middle school (in season four's "Little Horrors of Shop"), but he let the kids use tools, which went against the zero-tolerance policy on weapons.
6. In one episode, Peggy decided she wanted to work full-time. She almost got stuck working at Strickland Propane with Hank, but managed to land her dream job. Only one problem though - she had to pose as something she was not. What did Peggy have to pretend to be?

Answer: A nun

In the season 6 episode "Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret Hill", Peggy glumly went to her first day of work with Hank, but soon heard about a perfect opportunity to teach Spanish full time at a nearby school. The problem was, the job was at Saint Ignatius Catholic School, and they required their teachers to be nuns. Do you think that stopped Peggy Hill? No, siree.

She went to an interview, lied her face off, and invested in a nun costume. She soon began to feel guilty, and realized she wouldn't be able to continue her impersonation while knowing nothing about Catholicism, and she came clean and lost her dream job.
7. Peggy once got tricked into modeling for an adult website. What part of her body was featured on the site?

Answer: her feet

Throughout the series, Peggy was always self-conscious of her size 16 feet. So when, in the season four episode "Transnational Amusements Presents: Peggy's Magic Sex Feet", a man approached her and told her her feet were beautiful, she was easily duped into letting him take pictures of her feet for a website that he said was supposed to be a support group for women with big feet; they needed pictures to see that big feet are indeed beautiful.

The Hills soon learned that the man was dishonest and was putting her feet online for foot fetishists, and they put a stop to peggysfeet.com.
8. What did Peggy Hill write for the Arlen "Bystander"?

Answer: Musings

Peggy was hired to write the "Musings" column in the "Bystander" in the third season. She continued to write her "musings" off and on throughout the show, things such as "You know it's autumn when the leaves are leaving and the pine needles are sticking around". Over the years, she also contributed to the newspaper in other ways, including by covering the "Waffle House beat", writing a travel piece about the Hills' trip to Japan, and a household hints column, filled with tips she stole from Minh.
9. What caused Peggy to be in a full-body cast at the beginning of season four?

Answer: Skydiving accident

Hank and Peggy decided to go skydiving for their twentieth anniversary, in the third season finale. Peggy was skittish but eventually jumped out of the plane. Her parachute malfunctioned, however, and she crash-landed. In season four, in the episode "Peggy Hill: The Decline and Fall", viewers found out she survived the accident, but had to be placed in a full body cast. With the help of her father-in-law Cotton and his tough-love approach to rehabilitation, Peggy made a full recovery.
10. In one memorable episode of "King of the Hill", by which of these nicknames was Peggy Hill known?

Answer: Paddlin' Peggy

Peggy earned the nickname Paddlin' Peggy in the third season episode "To Spank With Love". When a kid in her class, Dooley, pulled her pants down in front of the entire room, Peggy was so shocked, she spanked Dooley. She was fired, but a band of "Paddlin' Peggy" supporters got her rehired. Peggy used her new image to intimidate and scare her pupils into behaving, but she soon realized that that was no way for a teacher to teach children, and went to back to being plain old Mrs. Hill to her students.
